Castro-Fields (shoulder) is participating at the Commanders' OTAs, Stephen Whyno of the AP News reports. Castro-Fields landed on Washington's injured reserve prior to Week 18 last season with a shoulder injury. He suited up for eight games in 2023, but was primarily used on special teams. Castro-Fields (shoulder) was placed on the Commanders' injured reserve Friday, Zach Shelby of the team's official website reports. Castro-Fields' placement on IR means his season is over. 49ers' Tariq Castro-Fields: Final pick of Round 6
The 49ers selected Castro-Fields in the sixth round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 221st overall. Castro-Fields has prototypical size and speed, as he measured in at 6-foot-1, 197 pounds with a 4.38 40-yard dash and 37-inch vertical. A four-year starter at Penn State, Castro-Fields was comfortable playing press corner on the outside but struggled with his consistency.
