Forrest (shoulder) is expected to be ready for offseason workouts, Sam Fortier of The Washington Post reports. Forrest suffered a fractured shoulder in October, which brought an end to his 2023 campaign early. The Cincinnati product spent about eight weeks with his arm in a sling before beginning rehab at the Commanders' facility and never underwent surgery to repair the injury.... See More ... See Less

Commanders' Darrick Forrest: Suffers shoulder fracture
Forrest suffered a fractured shoulder in Washington's Week 5 loss to the Bears on Thursday night and will be placed on injured reserve, Zach Selby of the Commanders' official site reports. Forrest has started all five games to this point, playing 99 percent of the defensive snaps and registering 29 tackles. It's unclear how long he'll be sidelined. Percy Butler is next up at safety for Washington, but the team figures to make a move at the position with Jeremy Reaves (knee) also headed to injured reserve.... See More ... See Less -
Commanders' Darrick Forrest: Makes 11 tackles in win
Forrest posted 11 tackles (eight solo) during Sunday's 19-13 win versus the Falcons. Forrest set a new career high in tackles while finishing as the Commanders' leading tackler Week 12. The second-year safety also played every defensive snap for the third game in a row, as previous starting free safety Bobby McCain continued to slot in at cornerback against Atlanta. Forrest has recorded 21 tackles and two interceptions over this span, and he should continue to put up solid production so long as he maintains this starting role moving forward.... See More ... Commanders' Darrick Forrest: Double-digit tackes in loss
Forrest registered 10 tackles (eight solo) during Sunday's 36-27 loss to the Lions. Forrest tied Cole Holcomb with a team-high 10 tackles, giving them both 15 tackles across two games. The second-year safety is off to a hot start in his first season as a starter and already has two pass defenses, an interception and a forced fumble to go along with his team-high 15 tackles. He'll look to maintain his strong play against the Eagles in Week 3.... See More ... See Less -
Commanders' Darrick Forrest: Impressive in Week 1 start
Forrest racked up five tackles (four solo), one forced fumble, one interception and two passes defensed during Sunday's 28-22 win over the Jaguars. Forrest's toe-tapping interception of Trevor Lawrence secured the win for Washington, and his impact in place of starter Kamren Curl (thumb) won't be lost on the team's coaching staff. It's possible that Forrest's standout first career start could lead to more opportunities even when Curl is back in action.... See More ... See Less -
Football Team's Darrick Forrest: Placed on COVID-19 list
Forrest was placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list Wednesday. Forrest was one of seven Washington players to be placed on the COVID list Wednesday. A depth piece in the secondary, Forrest has only appeared on special teams so far in 2021.... See More ... See Less -
Football Team's Darrick Forrest: Works out on side field
Forrest (hamstring) worked out with trainers on a side field during Thursday's practice, Nicki Jhabvala of The Washington Post reports. The rookie fifth-round pick is on injured reserve and won't be eligible to return until Week 4 at the earliest, but he's apparently making good progress toward that return date. Once he's cleared, Forrest will likely carve out a role on special teams.... See More ... See Less
