Yankees' Luis Gil: Improves to 6-0 in May
Gil (7-1) picked up the win Wednesday over the Angels, allowing one run on two hits and two walks while striking out nine over eight frames.
Gil continued his fantastic start to the campaign Wednesday, allowing just one hit over the first six innings before surrendering a solo home run to Logan O'Hoppe in the seventh. The right-hander produced 15 whiffs on the night while posting at least eight strikeouts for the third consecutive outing. Gil has now logged six quality starts in a row and improved to 6-0 in May after the win over Los Angeles. Over that stretch, he carries a ridiculous 0.70 ERA to go along with a 44:12 K:BB. Wednesday also marked his longest outing of the season.

Yankees' Luis Gil: Continues stellar run
Gil (6-1) earned the win Thursday over the Mariners, allowing just one hit and two walks while striking out eight in 6.1 scoreless innings.
Gil continues to look like a star in the Yankees' rotation -- the 25-year-old right-hander now has five straight wins and quality starts, allowing just two runs over 30.2 innings in that span. He's lowered his ERA to 2.11 on the year with a 1.01 WHIP and 70:29 K:BB through 10 starts (55.1 innings). Gil will look to keep rolling in his next outing, currently scheduled for next week on the road against the Angels.

Yankees' Luis Gil: Fans career-high 14 in win
Gil (5-1) picked up the win Saturday, allowing one run on five hits and a walk over six innings in a 6-1 victory over the White Sox. He struck out 14.
The 25-year-old right-hander set a new career high in Ks -- in fact, Gil had never struck out more than nine batters in a big-league start before. He generated an incredible 22 swinging strikes among his 98 pitches, and 40 combined called/swinging strikes, as he produced his fourth straight quality start and won his fifth straight decision. Gil is having a breakout campaign, and he'll take a 2.39 ERA, 1.08 WHIP and 62:27 K:BB through 49 innings into his next outing, which lines up to come at home next week against the Mariners.
