Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Sitting after three straight starts
Goodman is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Reds.
With Kris Bryant day-to-day with a back injury, playing time has opened up of late for Goodman, but the latter hasn't been able to take advantage of the opportunity. While starting in each of the last three games, Goodman went 0-for-9 with three strikeouts and will now move to the bench for Wednesday's series finale even though Bryant remains out of the lineup.

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Starting, but playing time falling
Goodman will start in left field and bat eighth in Sunday's game against the Dodgers.
Goodman concluded last weekend's series versus the Phillies by making his sixth start in eight games, but his playing time has fallen off over the past week. Before drawing back into the lineup Sunday, Goodman started just once in the Rockies' preceding five games. With Kris Bryant settling in primarily at designated hitter and Sean Bouchard and Charlie Blackmon typically serving as Colorado's starters in the corner outfield, Goodman has found himself as the odd man out of late.

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: Gaining foothold in lineup
Goodman will serve as the Rockies' designated hitter and No. 7 batter in Thursday's game against the Athletics.
Goodman will make his fourth start in five games -- and his third at DH -- after going 4-for-12 with two doubles, an RBI, a run and a stolen base across his prior three contests. His inclusion in the lineup Thursday comes while the Rockies are resting four key regulars (Kris Bryant, Charlie Blackmon, Elias Diaz and Brendan Rodgers), but Goodman's recent usage suggests that he'll be a priority in the lineup over Elehuris Montero, who didn't start either of the past two days following Bryant's return from the injured list.

Rockies' Hunter Goodman: First appearance as catcher
Goodman went 2-for-4 with a double, a stolen base, an RBI and a run scored Saturday against the Giants.
Goodman has primarily been a bench bat for Colorado since being promoted April 24, though he made his first career start and appearance at catcher in Saturday's game. Elias Diaz (hand) remains out, which is giving Goodman the opportunity to back up Jacob Stallings. The injury to Diaz isn't projected to keep him out in the long term, so Goodman may not have enough time to gain catcher eligibility, though he would become an intriguing option behind the dish if Diaz remains sidelined longer than anticipated.
