Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Resting Wednesday
Jansen is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the White Sox. Jansen will get a breather for the series finale after he was behind the plate both of the previous two days. Alejandro Kirk will draw the start at catcher Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Collects five RBI
Jansen went 3-for-4 with a home run, a double, five RBI and two runs scored in Monday's victory over the White Sox. This was the third time in Jansen's career that he has driven in five or more runs in a game, marking the first occurrence since Oct. 1, 2022. The highlight of 29-year-old catcher's day was launching a 377-foot homer off Jordan Leasure in the seventh inning. The Blue Jays backstop has swung a hot bat to open the season, slashing .333/.397/.681 over his first 78 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: In two-hole Monday
Jansen is starting at catcher and batting second in Monday's game versus the White Sox. Blue Jays manager John Schneider has been changing things up with his lineups in an effort to get his offense going, and he's trying something new again Monday in batting Jansen higher than fifth for the first time this season. The catcher is slashing .313/.384/.625 on the year, so it's a move that certainly makes sense on paper.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Taking seat Sunday
Jansen is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rays. Jansen started the previous three games but will hit the bench after going 3-for-10 with a double and a run. Alejandro Kirk will step in behind the plate Sunday.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Good to go Tuesday
Jansen (back) is starting behind the plate and batting fifth Tuesday against the Orioles. Jansen sat out Monday for the second straight game due to back spasms but is ready to play Tuesday. The fact the 29-year-old is immediately returning to work behind the plate indicates the injury wasn't a serious concern. Jansen has carried a hot bat through nine games in May with a 1.101 OPS in 28 at-bats.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Nursing back spasms
Blue Jays manager John Schneider said Jansen is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles due to back spasms, Shi Davidi of Sportsnet.ca reports. The injury explains why Jansen is on the bench for a second straight game after he was held out of the lineup for Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Twins in what appeared to be a routine maintenance day. Jansen came off the bench and pinch hit for designated hitter Daniel Vogelbach in that contest, and Schneider said that he's hopeful Jansen will be available again Monday, if needed. Alejandro Kirk will pick up another start at catcher in Jansen's stead.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Out of starting nine Monday
Jansen is out of the lineup for Monday's game against the Orioles. Jansen is on the bench for a second consecutive game, but he didn't get a true day off in Sunday's 5-1 loss to the Twins, as he was summoned from the bench as a pinch hitter and drove in a run in his lone plate appearance. He'll likely get a more proper day of rest Monday while Alejandro Kirk gets another turn behind the plate.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Gets rest for series finale
Jansen is out of the starting lineup for Sunday's series finale against the Twins. Jansen will sit for the series finale Sunday while Alejandro Kirk starts behind the dish and bats eighth against Twins right-hander Bailey Ober. Since May 1, Jansen has gone 10-for-28 with four doubles, two home runs and four RBI.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Receiving breather Sunday
Jansen is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. Jansen will get a routine maintenance day in the series finale after drawing starts at catcher in each of the Blue Jays' previous three games. Alejandro Kirk will check in for him behind the dish.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Slugs third homer
Jansen went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Wednesday's 6-1 loss to the Royals. He spoiled Seth Lugo's shutout bid in the seventh inning, but it was the only bright spot on the day for the Toronto offense. Jansen has three homers since making his season debut April 16, all solo shots, but they've all come in his last four starts. The 29-year-old catcher has gone 8-for-30 (.267) in 10 games, but six of those hits have gone for extra bases, including three doubles.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Swats another homer
Jansen went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Monday's 6-5 win over the Royals. Jansen tagged Jonathan Bowlan for a solo homer in the third inning, marking the catcher's second home run in the last three games. After missing the first few weeks of the season with an injury, Jansen is slashing .269/.387/.615 with a 12.9 percent strikeout rate in 31 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Receives breather Sunday

Alejandro Kirk will handle the catching duties in Wednesday's series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Likely to debut Tuesday
Jansen (wrist) is expected to join the Toronto lineup and make his season debut in Tuesday's game against the Yankees, ESPN.com reports. After missing the first two and a half weeks of the season while recovering from a fractured right wrist suffered in a March 13 spring training game, Jansen was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Monday. He didn't play in Monday's series-opening 3-1 victory, however, as Alejandro Kirk drew the nod behind the plate and went 2-for-3 with a double, a walk, an RBI and a run scored. Though Kirk has now reached base seven times over the Blue Jays' last two games, he's still slashing an ugly .200/.293/.220 through 58 plate appearances. Given that he's regarded as the superior defender of the two catchers and in light of Kirk's struggles at the dish, Jansen is expected to emerge as the Blue Jays' No. 1 backstop now that he's healthy.... Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Returns from injured list
The Blue Jays activated Jansen (wrist) from the 10-day injured list Monday, Mike Wilner of the Toronto Star reports. Jansen wound up missing the first two and a half weeks of the season after suffering a small fracture in his right wrist. He went 4-for-13 with a home run during his rehab assignment with Triple-A Buffalo and seems likely to ascend to the top of the Blue Jays' catching depth chart given Alejandro Kirk's early struggles (.170/.259/.170 slash line).... See More ... See Less -
Blue Jays' Danny Jansen: Rehab assignment complete
Jansen (wrist) has completed a rehab assignment and could return to Toronto's lineup Monday, Mike Wilner of The Toronto Star reports. Jansen could be back in the lineup as early as Monday. The Jays are looking for more offensive output from the catcher slot, as Alejandro Kirk is hitting a paltry .170/.259/.170 on the season.... See More ... See Less
