Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Smacks homer in loss
Stephenson went 2-for-4 with a solo home run in Friday's 7-3 loss to the Dodgers. Stephenson has four multi-hit efforts over his last five games, and each of those two-hit games has included one knock for extra bases. His homer Friday was his second of the month and fifth of the season. The catcher is up to a .264/.342/.472 slash line with 14 RBI, 18 runs scored, one stolen base and seven doubles through 120 plate appearances on the year.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Two hits, two RBI in win
Stephenson went 2-for-4 with a double and two RBI in Thursday's 7-2 win over the Dodgers. Stephenson produced runs in his first two plate appearances, singling in the first inning then doubling home the eventual game-winning run in the third. Both runs were scored by Elly De La Cruz, who had stolen bases prior to each of Stephenson's at-bats. The backstop has multiple hits in three straight games, going 7-for-13 with three doubles, two RBI and three runs scored. A lack of production from the middle of the order early in the season prompted Reds manager David Bell to move Stephenson up, and he has slotted in anywhere from third to sixth over his last 13 starts.... Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Getting day off
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Diamondbacks. Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Launches homer in loss
Stephenson went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-2 loss to the Diamondbacks. Stephenson's ninth-inning home run was way too late for the Reds, who logged just three hits and lost their sixth consecutive contest. Cincinnati's middle-of-the-order bats have not produced of late, which has prompted manager David Bell to move Stephenson to cleanup in the three starts since he returned from a hand injury last week.... Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Taking seat Sunday
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Orioles. Stephenson started the first two games of the series but will sit for the finale after going 0-for-6 with a walk. Luke Maile is catching for Nick Lodolo and batting ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Hitless in return

Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Returns to Cincinnati's lineup
Stephenson (hand) will start at catcher and bat cleanup in Friday's contest versus the Orioles. Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Could return Friday
The Reds expect Stephenson (hand) to return Friday against the Orioles, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. Stephenson is hitting .231/.338/.415 with three homers and 10 RBI, but his Statcast metrics (20.4% barrel rate, 93.4 mph average exit velocity) suggest better results could be forthcoming. Moreover, Stephenson has been considerably better than his backup Luke Maile, who is hitting just .163/.250/.256 so far on the season.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Remains out Wednesday
Stephenson (hand) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game in San Diego. He hasn't played since exiting Saturday's game versus the Rangers following a hit-by-pitch on the right hand. The Reds have an off day Thursday, so they could be aiming for Stephenson to return to action Friday against the Orioles. Luke Maile will catch again Wednesday in Stephenson's place.... See More ... Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Remains sidelined Tuesday
Stephenson (hand) isn't in the Reds' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Padres, Jeff Sanders of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. Stephenson hasn't started a game since being hit in the hand by a pitch during Saturday's game against the Rangers, though he was available off the bench for Monday's contest and presumably is also available if needed Tuesday. In the meantime, Luke Maile will pick up another start behind the plate and bat eighth.... See More ... See Less -

Reds' Tyler Stephenson: OK following hit-by-pitch
Reds manager David Bell said the removal of Stephenson from Saturday's game versus the Rangers following a hit-by-pitch on the right hand was precautionary, Gordon Wittenmyer of The Cincinnati Enquirer reports. It doesn't sound like Stephenson even needed to undergo any testing. It's possible the Reds will choose to hold him out Sunday, particularly because it's an afternoon game, but Stephenson is expected to be fine.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Resting Thursday
Stephenson is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Phillies. Stephenson will get a well-deserved breather for Thursday's day game after he started in each of Cincinnati's last seven games, with six of those starts coming behind the plate. Luke Maile will get the nod at catcher Thursday and form a battery with starting pitcher Nick Martinez.... See More ... See Less -
Reds' Tyler Stephenson: Smacks first career grand slam
Stephenson went 1-for-4 with a grand slam in Saturday's 7-5 win over the Angels. Patrick Sandoval loaded the bases in the first inning and Stephenson cashed in with his first career grand slam. As Mark Sheldon of MLB.com notes, Stephenson has been one of the best hitters in baseball at making hard contact so far this year, ranking at the very top of the league in barrel percentage entering play Saturday.
