Suarez (3-0) earned the win Tuesday against Atlanta, allowing four hits and three walks over 5.1 scoreless innings. He struck out four. Suarez continues to impress as a starter in Baltimore -- he's made four straight starts, allowing just three runs over 19.1 innings. The 34-year-old Suarez, who last pitched in 2017 prior to this season, now has a 1.61 ERA with a 1.05 WHIP and 37:14 K:BB across 44.2 innings. Suarez figures to stick in the rotation until Dean Kremer (triceps) is able to return. He's currently lined up for a road matchup with the Yankees in his next start.... See More ... See Less

Orioles' Albert Suarez: Continues solid pitching as starter
Suarez allowed two runs on five hits and one walk while striking out four batters over five innings in a no-decision against Toronto on Wednesday. Suarez remained in the rotation for a third straight start and did a good job of keeping Baltimore in the contest with five strong frames. The only damage against him came in the second inning, when he surrendered two runs -- twice as many as he had allowed in his previous two starts combined. Suarez has posted a 1.93 ERA across 14 innings since rejoining the Orioles rotation May 25. He figures to get at least one more start, and possibly more, since Dean Kremer (triceps) has not yet begun a rehab assignment.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Albert Suarez: Solid in no-decision
Suarez didn't factor into the decision Friday against Tampa Bay, allowing one run on four hits and two walks over five innings. He struck out five. Suarez allowed a lone run in the second inning before settling in and blanking the Rays over his final three frames, allowing just one additional hit. The 34-year-old Suarez has allowed just one run over nine innings in two starts since returning to Baltimore's rotation. Overall, he's 2-0 with a 1.57 ERA, 0.99 WHIP and 29:10 K:BB across 34.1 innings this year. With John Means (elbow) and Tyler Wells (elbow) both out for the year, Suarez could be in for an extended look as a starter. He's currently in line for a road matchup with Toronto in his next outing.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Albert Suarez: Dazzles in return to rotation
Suarez came away with a no-decision in Saturday's 5-3 win over the White Sox, allowing two hits and two walks over four scoreless innings. He struck out three. The 34-year-old right-hander hadn't pitched more than an inning in any of his last three appearances, including an 11-pitch outing Wednesday, but Suarez slid right back into the O's rotation without any issues. He tossed 50 of 80 pitches for strikes before exiting the mound, and with John Means (forearm) and Dean Kremer (triceps) on the shelf, Suarez figures to plug a hole in the rotation for at least a couple weeks. He'll take a 1.53 ERA, 0.95 WHIP and 24:8 K:BB through 29.1 innings into his next turn, which lines up to come at home next weekend against the Rays.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Albert Suarez: Allows four earned in no-decision
Suarez did not factor into the decision during Sunday's 7-6 loss to the A's, allowing four runs on seven hits and one walk over four innings. He struck out six. Suarez allowed his first earned runs of the season, laboring through 83 pitches prior to being pulled with the lead after finishing four innings. Suarez had been unscored upon in his first two starts spanning 11.1 innings since being recalled from Triple-A Norfolk on April 17. Suarez's future in the Baltimore rotation is currently uncertain, as both Kyle Bradish and John Means are finishing up their respective rehab assignments and are expected to soon return to the big club.... Orioles' Albert Suarez: Unscored upon again in victory
Suarez (1-0) earned the win over the Angels on Monday, allowing four hits and two walks while striking out five batters over 5.2 innings. Suarez got another turn in the rotation after holding Minnesota scoreless in his season debut Wednesday, and he turned in a very similar pitching line. The right-hander again completed 5.2 scoreless frames, this time getting enough run support to earn his first major-league win since 2016. Suarez has now completed 11.1 scoreless innings to begin the campaign, though his lack of previous big-league success makes it reasonable to question if he can sustain his effectiveness. It's worth noting that the right-hander pitched in Korea over the previous two campaigns, and though he wasn't exactly dominant, it's possible that tenure helped him uncover something that is helping with his approach to major-league hitters. Suarez appears set to stick in Baltimore's rotation for the time being, and he lines up for a favorable matchup against Oakland in his next projected start.... See More ... See Less -
Orioles' Albert Suarez: Fires 5.2 scoreless frames
Suarez allowed three hits and no walks over 5.2 scoreless innings during Wednesday's 4-2 win versus Minnesota. He struck out four and didn't factor in the decision. The 34-year-old was a surprise selection to start Tuesday, which was his first MLB appearance since 2017, but he pitched well with 14 swinging strikes on 75 pitches and allowed just four baserunners. According to Jake Rill of MLB.com, manager Brandon Hyde said Suarez will get additional turns through the rotation, which isn't a major surprise given his performance and the numerous injuries Baltimore is managing to its rotation.... Orioles' Albert Suarez: Draws start Wednesday
The Orioles selected Suarez's contract from Triple-A Norfolk and will have him start Wednesday's game against the Twins at Camden Yards. Suarez will be making his first appearance in the majors since 2017, when he tossed 31.2 innings out of San Francisco's bullpen. He had spent the last five seasons overseas in Japan and Korea before making his return to affiliated ball this winter, when he signed a minor-league deal with Baltimore. Though he didn't secure a spot on Baltimore's Opening Day roster, Suarez didn't have to wait long for a call-up while logging a 5.87 ERA, 1.32 WHIP and 17:1 K:BB in 15.1 innings over three appearances (one start) for Norfolk. He'll be stepping into the rotation spot that opened up after Tyler Wells (elbow) was placed on the injured list, but Suarez may be in line for just one start before heading back to the minors. John Means (elbow) is set to make the fourth start of his rehab assignment Wednesday and could be ready to return from the IL when the Wells/Suarez spot in the Baltimore rotation comes up again next week.... Orioles' Albert Suarez: Latches on with Orioles
Suarez signed a minor-league contract with the Orioles on Saturday, Jake Rill of MLB.com reports. Suarez will officially return to affiliated ball after spending the past five seasons overseas. He spent 2023 with the KBO's Samsung Lions, where he put up a 3.92 ERA and 1.49 WHIP through 108 innings, and he will presumably add to the Orioles' minor-league depth at Triple-A Norfolk....
