Marte is not in the lineup for the first game of Tuesday's doubleheader against the Dodgers. Marte will surely be back among the starting nine for the second contest, but he'll begin the first one on the bench as the Dodgers send tough right-hander Tyler Glasnow to the hill. DJ Stewart will patrol right field in the first game.... See More ... See Less

Mets' Starling Marte: Getting Sunday off
Marte is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against San Francisco. Marte will get a breather for the day game after he started in both of the first two games of the series while going 2-for-8 with a solo home run and an additional run. DJ Stewart will check in for Marte in right field.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Sitting out Wednesday
Marte isn't in the lineup for Wednesday's game in Cleveland, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Marte slugged a home run in Tuesday's 7-6 loss to Cleveland, but he'll get a breather for the Wednesday afternoon tilt. DJ Stewart will fill in in right field for Marte.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Ejected from series opener
Marte was ejected from Monday's game against the Guardians after arguing a called third strike, SportsNet New York reports. Marte didn't agree with a called strike three to end the top half of the fourth inning, and he was ejected while walking out to his position in the bottom half of the frame. Tyrone Taylor replaced Marte in right field.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Out of lineup Sunday
Marte is not in the starting lineup for Sunday's game against the Marlins. The Mets will roll with an outfield consisting of Tyrone Taylor, Harrison Bader and DJ Stewart from left to right, with Brandon Nimmo at DH against right-hander Sixto Sanchez. Marte remains a regular in Queens and he's picked it up a bit at the plate recently, collecting multiple hits in three of his last five starts.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Swipes eighth bag
Marte went 2-for-5 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's extra-innings win over the Phillies. It's the fourth multi-hit performance for Marte in May, but he has just four total hits in his other 10 contests on the month. The veteran outfielder is a perfect 8-for-8 on the season in steal attempts though, keeping his fantasy value afloat despite a lackluster .259/.305/.370 slash line that comes with four homers, 15 RBI and 21 runs in 35 games.... Mets' Starling Marte: Getting Wednesday off
Marte is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Cardinals, Anthony DiComo of MLB.com reports. Marte had started each of the Mets' first seven games of May, going 6-for-30 (.200 average) with one extra-base hit (a double) and one stolen base. His absence Wednesday looks to be little more than a maintenance day as the Mets and Cardinals wrap up their series with a day game after a night game.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Two hits, stolen base in loss
Marte went 2-for-3 with an RBI and a stolen base in Saturday's loss to the Rays. Marte drove in the Mets' only run of the game with an RBI single following a leadoff double from Brandon Nimmo in the top of the first inning. The right fielder added another single and a walk in the contest while also swiping his seventh bag of the season. Marte has struggled a bit at the plate as of late and is batting just .188 (3-for-16) in May. However, he's also tallied multiple hits in five of his last 11 games.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Back from bereavement list
The Mets activated Marte (personal) from the bereavement list Tuesday, Mike Puma of the New York Post reports. He's not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Cubs, but he'll be available off the bench after missing the previous three games. DJ Stewart is set to start in right field Tuesday.... Mets' Starling Marte: Expected back Tuesday
Mets manager Carlos Mendoza said Monday that he expects Marte (personal) to be activated from the bereavement list Tuesday, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Marte missed the final two games of the Mets' weekend series against the Cardinals and remains unavailable Monday versus the Cubs, but his return to the team looks to be imminent. Tyrone Taylor will draw a third straight start in the outfield Monday but will move back to a bench role once Marte is activated.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Placed on bereavement list
Marte was placed on the bereavement list Saturday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports. Manager Carlos Mendoza said he expects Marte to be away from the team for three days as he tends to more important matters. Mark Vientos will come up from Triple-A Syracuse to take Marte's spot on the active roster.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Day off Saturday
Marte isn't in the Mets' lineup for Saturday's contest versus St. Louis, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Marte went 1-for-4 during Friday's series opener, and he'll now get a rare day off Saturday versus Sonny Gray and the Cards. DJ Stewart will get the nod in right field and bat fifth.... See More ... Mets' Starling Marte: Nabs sixth steal
Marte went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Monday's loss to the Giants. The veteran outfielder continues to turn things around after a rough 2023. Marte has six multi-hit performances in the last 11 games, going 15-for-48 (.313) over that stretch to boost his slash line on the season to .286/.330/.451 with four homers, six steals, 12 RBI and 16 runs through 22 contests. The 35-year-old hasn't had a 20-homer campaign since 2019, his final year with the Pirates, but if he can stay healthy he's well on his way to reaching that mark again.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Powers offense in win
Marte went 2-for-5 with a home run, a stolen base, two runs scored and four RBI in Saturday's 6-4 win over the Dodgers. The veteran outfielder supplied the big blow for the Mets with a three-run shot in the sixth inning off Ryan Brasier. Marte has seven multi-hit performances in the last 13 games, and the hot streak has boosted his slash line on the season to .282/.330/.459 with four homers, five steals, 12 RBI and 16 runs.... Mets' Starling Marte: Stays hot Friday
Marte went 2-for-5 with a double, two runs scored, two RBI and a stolen base in Friday's win over the Dodgers. The veteran outfielder has caught fire the last couple weeks. Over the last 12 games, Marte is slashing .315/.362/.463 with two homers, four steals, seven RBI and 11 runs, and he seems to be entrenched once again as the Mets' No. 2 hitter. After a down 2023 due to lingering health issues, the 35-year-old appears primed for a bounce-back campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Belts third homer
Marte went 1-for-5 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over the Pirates. The veteran outfielder took Bailey Falter deep in the third inning to get the Mets on the board. Marte has been healthy to begin the season and appears to be back in 20-20 form, slashing .267/.321/.413 through 18 games with three homers, three steals, six RBI and 12 runs.... See More ... Mets' Starling Marte: Swipes third bag
Marte went 2-for-5 with a walk, two runs scored and a stolen base in Thursday's win over Atlanta. After a rough 2023 in which he never seemed to be 100 percent healthy, Marte has been in much better form to begin the current campaign. The 35-year-old is slashing .271/.340/.354 through 12 games with one homer, three steals, three RBI and eight runs, and he's been moved up to the second spot in the lineup the last couple games. Marte's fantasy outlook would be much improved if he can stick at the top of the order.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Belts homer during loss
Marte went 1-for-3 with a solo home run during Friday's 3-1 loss to Milwaukee. Marte was the lone bright spot in a Mets lineup that otherwise went hitless Friday and produced just two additional baserunners. Expectations for the 35-year-old outfielder are low after he posted a .625 OPS last season, but hitting a home run off Freddy Peralta could be a sign Marte is a lot healthier to begin his 2024 campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Mets' Starling Marte: Spring struggles continue
Marte went 0-for-2 in Wednesday's Grapefruit League game against the Astros. Getting the start in right field and batting fifth, Marte flied out to center field in the second inning before popping out to second base in the fourth. The Mets were hoping the 35-year-old outfielder would return to form after a healthy offseason, but so far this spring Marte is batting a worrying .091 (2-for-22) with zero extra-base hits or steals and a 1:3 BB:K. He's still locked into the starting role in right field and has time yet in camp to turn things around, but after he posted a career-worst .248 batting average and .625 OPS in 2023, expectations for Marte have never been lower.... Mets' Starling Marte: Set for Grapefruit debut Wednesday
Marte (groin) will make his Grapefruit League debut Wednesday against the Cardinals, Tim Healey of Newsday reports. Marte has struggled to stay healthy since undergoing double groin surgery last offseason, but he played in the Dominican Winter League this offseason and reported to spring camp healthy. The veteran outfielder played just 86 games in 2023 and slashed a lackluster 248/.301/.324.... See More ... See Less
