Kerr (1-2) took the loss against the Nationals on Thursday, allowing three runs on five hits and two walks over 3.2 innings. He struck out seven. Kerr struck out three of the first four batters he faced, but things began to unravel for the 29-year-old in the top of the third after he hit Jacob Young with a pitch. The lefty would end up surrendering three runs in the frame on two hits and a walk while also plunking another batter. Kerr has allowed at least three runs in each of his first two starts, taking the loss on each occasion. He also hasn't gone more than four innings in any of his outings with Atlanta.... See More ... Braves' Ray Kerr: Starting Thursday
Kerr will start Thursday's game against the Nationals, David O'Brien of The Athletic reports. Reynaldo Lopez was originally scheduled to start Thursday's series finale, but Atlanta will instead give Kerr another shot after he allowed five earned runs in four innings during his first MLB start last Friday in Pittsburgh. The 29-year-old southpaw owns a 5.40 ERA and 1.27 WHIP through 13.1 innings this season and has never pitched more than four innings in a game throughout his career.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ray Kerr: Promoted, starting Friday
Atlanta recalled Kerr from Triple-A Gwinnett to start Friday's game at Pittsburgh. The left-hander was optioned to Gwinnett following Monday's twin bill against the Padres but will be allowed to quickly rejoin the big club as AJ Smith-Shawver (oblique) lands on the injured list. Kerr's four appearances for Atlanta this season have all come out of the bullpen, but he's pitched well with a 2.89 ERA, 0.96 WHIP and 10:0 K:BB across 9.1 innings. He threw 64 pitches over 3.1 frames in his last outing and figures to face some workload limitations since that was his longest outing of the campaign. Kerr could piggyback with Darius Vines, who was called up Monday but has yet to appear in a game for Atlanta.... See More ... See Less -
Braves' Ray Kerr: Returned to Triple-A
Kerr was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett after Game 2 of Monday's doubleheader against the Padres. Kerr had a shaky performance his last time out Sunday against the Padres, surrendering two runs on four hits while striking out four over 3.1 innings of work. He'll return to Triple-A following Monday's move, where he's posted a 4.50 ERA and 1.29 WHIP with 22 strikeouts over 14 frames.... See More ... See Less -

Padres' Ray Kerr: Gets call to majors

Padres' Ray Kerr: Promotion imminent
Kerr will be promoted from Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday, Kevin Acee of The San Diego Union-Tribune reports. With Reiss Knehr (elbow) landing on the injured list after filling in for Yu Darvish (illness) on Tuesday, Kerr will be called upon to provide much-needed depth to the Padres' bullpen. Kerr holds a 6.00 ERA and 1.17 WHIP through six innings in the majors this season.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ray Kerr: Back in minors
The Padres optioned Kerr to Triple-A El Paso on Saturday. Kerr made four appearances out of the bullpen after being called up June 16, allowing four earned runs through 4.2 innings of work. After a subpar MLB stint, he'll return to Triple-A to make room for Matt Waldron on the active roster, as Waldron will get a spot start Saturday against the Nationals.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ray Kerr: Moves to Triple-A
San Diego optioned Kerr to Triple-A El Paso on Monday. Kerr was sent down to make room for Domingo Tapia, who was recalled from Triple-A in a corresponding transaction. During his latest call-up period, the lefty appeared in two games out of the bullpen while throwing 1.1 scoreless innings.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ray Kerr: Optioned to Triple-A
The Padres optioned Kerr to Triple-A El Paso on Friday. Kerr spent most of last season in El Paso as well, logging a 5.08 ERA and 1.84 WHIP in 44.1 innings. He was able to limit runs a bit better during the spring, but allowing seven hits and four walks over 4.2 innings indicates there is plenty of work yet to be done for the 28-year-old lefty.... Padres' Ray Kerr: Recalled by Padres
Kerr was recalled from Triple-A El Paso on Saturday. Kerr spent the last few weeks in the minors after being sent down in mid-May, but he will get another chance to show what he can do with the big club. He will provide depth in the bullpen for Saturday's doubleheader against the Rockies and beyond after Adrian Morejon (illness) was placed on the COVID-19-related injured list.... See More ... During his week-and-a-half-long stay with the big club, Kerr made two appearances out of the bullpen and gave up two earned runs over 1.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ray Kerr: Recalled by Padres
Kerr was recalled by the Padres on Saturday, AJ Cassavell of MLB.com reports. Kerr spent 11 days on the big-league roster earlier in the season but made just one appearance. He could see more opportunities this time around, as he'll be up to replace fellow lefty reliever Tim Hill, who hit the injured list with shoulder inflammation.... See More ... See Less -
Padres' Ray Kerr: Sent to El Paso
Kerr was optioned to Triple-A El Paso on Wednesday. Kerr was traded to the Padres during the offseason, and he allowed two runs on three hits and two walks while striking out five in three innings across three relief appearances during Cactus League play.
