  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Falls short in Game 4

Lindgren allowed three goals on 22 shots in Sunday's 4-2 loss to the Rangers in Game 4. The fourth goal was an empty-netter. Lindgren went 0-4 in the playoffs, ending the Capitals' postseason run in the first round. He allowed 14 goals on 103 shots during those four contests, putting a sour taste on an otherwise solid campaign that saw him post a 25-16-7 record, a 2.67 GAA and a .911 save percentage in 50 regular-season appearances. Lindgren is under contract for one more season, so he should have at least a timeshare role on lock for 2024-25.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: First off ahead of Game 4

Lindgren was the first goalie off the ice at the morning skate, Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network reports, indicating he will patrol the home crease Sunday in Game 4 versus the Rangers. Lindgren has lost three straight outings in the postseason, surrendering 11 goals on 81 shots for an .864 save percentage. The Capitals need a victory in Game 4 to avoid being swept in the first round by the Rangers.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Gets little help in Game 3 loss

Lindgren stopped 19 shots Friday during a 3-1 loss to the Rangers in Game 3 of the Capitals' first-round series. John Carlson opened the scoring with a somewhat fluky goal early in the first period, but Lindgren gave up the lead less than a minute later when Chris Kreider tipped home a long-range shot, and the Rangers never looked back. The 30-year-old netminder has given up 11 goals on 81 shots through three playoff games, and while that shaky save percentage isn't entirely his fault, Lindgren's still begun the playoffs with three straight losses, leaving Washington on the brink of elimination.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Facing Rangers

Lindgren was the first goalie off the ice at morning skate, per Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post, putting him on track to start between the home pipes Friday for Game 3 versus the Rangers. Lindgren allowed four goals in each of his two playoff games versus the Rangers. The two losses snapped a three-game winning streak Lindgren had at the end of the regular season, during which he gave up only three goals on 78 shots. The Rangers will enter Friday's contest with a 2-0 series lead.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Stumbles in Game 2

Lindgren made 24 saves Tuesday in a 4-3 loss to the Rangers during Game 2 of the Capitals' first-round series. New York scored twice with the man advantage and once on a K'Andre Miller shorthanded tally, but Lindgren did blank the Rangers in the third period to at least give his club an opportunity for a comeback. The 30-year-old netminder has given up eight goals on 58 shots to begin Washington's postseason run, and while the poor results so far may not be completely Lindgren's fault, coach Spencer Carbury may consider turning to Darcy Kuemper between the pipes when the series shifts back to D.C. for Game 3 on Friday.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Struggles in Game 1

Lindgren stopped 27 of 31 shots in Sunday's Game 1 loss to the Rangers. It was a disappointing start to the postseason after Lindgren helped the Caps to a surprising last-minute playoff berth by posting a .941 save percentage or better in four of the season's final five games. It might be a tough postseason for Lindgren and the bottom-seeded Caps. They were outshot 31 to 21 on Sunday.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Wins third straight

Lindgren stopped 27 of 28 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Flyers. Lindgren was sharp again Tuesday, holding the Flyers to a lone Erik Johnson goal in the second period en route to a playoff-clinching victory. The 30-year-old Lindgren now has three wins in four days to close out the regular season, allowing just three goals on 78 shots in that span. He'll wrap up the campaign with a 25-16-7 record, .911 save percentage and 2.67 GAA across 50 appearances.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Starting again Tuesday

Lindgren will be between the pipes on the road against the Flyers on Tuesday, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports. Lindgren gets the starting nod on the second game of the Caps' season-ending back-to-back after stopping all 16 shots he faced versus Boston on Monday. Perhaps if the Minnesota native had faced a heavier workload, then the club would have decided to roll with Darcy Kuemper. In his last five outings, the 30-year-old Lindgren is 3-1-1 with a 1.81 GAA and a .931 save percentage. He figures to remain Washington's preferred choice between the pipes should the Capitals make the playoffs.

Lindgren has featured in 21 of the Caps' last 23 contests, posting an 11-8-2 record to go with a 2.92 GAA. With a back-to-back on the schedule, Darcy Kuemper will likely get the nod on the road versus the Flyers on Tuesday. Lindgren will protect the home net Saturday against Tampa Bay, according to Tarik El-Bashir of Monumental Sports Network. • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Falls to Sabres

Lindgren stopped 13 of 16 shots in Thursday's 4-2 loss to Buffalo, with the Sabres' final goal getting scored into an empty net. It was a loss the Capitals could ill afford, as they now sit one point behind the Penguins for the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference. Lindgren has just one win in his last seven outings, going 1-4-2 with a 3.38 GAA and .891 save percentage as Washington stumbles toward the finish line.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Leaves ice first Thursday

Lindgren was the first goalie off the ice Thursday, Bailey Johnson of The Washington Post reports, indicating he'll be between the road pipes versus Buffalo. Lindgren has appeared in 22 of the Caps' last 25 outings while posting a 12-7-3 record and 2.91 GAA. The workload isn't going to get any lighter for the backstop as long as the team remains in the mix for a wild-card spot. On the year, Lindgren has already set new personal bests in games played (46), wins (22) and shutouts (five).

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Busy in Tuesday's win

Lindgren stopped 42 shots in Tuesday's 2-1 win over the Red Wings. Patrick Kane spoiled his shutout bid with just two seconds left in the third period, but it was still a huge performance from Lindgren in a clutch spot -- the win moved the Capitals into the final playoff spot in the Eastern Conference, one point ahead of both the Wings and the Penguins and two ahead of the Flyers. The 30-year-old netminder has had a bumpy beginning to April, allowing 13 goals on 118 shots (.890 save percentage) while going 1-2-1 in four starts, but Washington will give him every chance to rediscover the form that saw him deliver a 2.13 GAA and .932 save percentage over 14 outings in November and December.

In 45 contests this campaign, he has a 21-15-7 record with a 2.82 GAA and a .907 save percentage. Detroit sits ninth in the league this season with 3.31 goals per game.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Guarding crease Saturday

Lindgren is expected to start in Saturday's home game against the Bruins, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. Lindgren will look to bounce back after allowing five goals on 48 shots in a 5-1 loss to the Maple Leafs on Wednesday. The 30-year-old backstopped the Capitals to a 3-0 win over the Bruins on Feb. 10 and has been instrumental in Washington's late-season push to lock down a playoff berth.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Busy man in loss

Lindgren made 43 saves in a 5-1 loss to Toronto on Thursday. Lindgren had a few fluky plays result in goals, but some of them were the function of sloppy plays in front of him that he could do little to hedge against. If there was ever a case for a netminder to win the Hart, Lindgren would be the leading actor in that category. The Caps have no business being in the playoff race, and it's pretty much thanks to him that they're flirting with that right now.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Facing Detroit

Lindgren will patrol the home crease versus the Red Wings on Tuesday, Sammi Silber of The Hockey News reports. Lindgren was unbeatable in his last start Sunday against the Jets, stopping all 27 shots he faced en route to a 3-0 victory. He'll try to extend his personal winning streak to three games in a middling home matchup with a Detroit team that's averaging 3.09 goals on the road this year, 16th in the NHL.

He is 19-12-5 with a 2.74 GAA and a .909 save percentage. Lindgren permitted three goals on 29 shots in a 3-0 loss to the Jets on March 11.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Snags shootout win in relief

Lindgren replaced Darcy Kuemper to begin the third period in Friday's 7-6 win over the Hurricanes, stopping seven of nine shots in regulation and overtime as well as all five shootout attempts he faced. The goalies didn't really get to shine until the shootout, but Lindgren stepped up and denied Carolina's best scorers, including a stop on Sebastian Aho in the fifth round after Aho had recorded a hat trick earlier in the night. Lindgren has put together a big March, going 7-3-0 in 10 outings with a 2.45 GAA and .915 save percentage to help keep Washington in the playoff race.

  • Capitals' Charlie Lindgren: Buried by Leafs

Lindgren stopped 22 shots in Wednesday's 7-3 loss to the Maple Leafs. Auston Matthews scored just 16 seconds into the first period, setting the tone for the game. Lindgren had allowed only four goals total during a three-start win streak that got snapped with this outing, and despite the ugly result, the 30-year-old netminder still has a 2.34 GAA and .920 save percentage over nine outings in March.
