Larkin won't represent Team USA at the 2024 IIHF World Championship because of an undisclosed injury, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Larkin will use the offseason to recover instead, which should put him on track to be available for training camp in the fall. He finished the 2023-24 season with 33 goals and 69 points in 68 appearances.... See More ... See Less

Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Sets bar higher in ninth season
Larkin finished with more points than games played for the first time in his nine-year career, adding 33 goals and 36 assists -- with 26 of those points on the power play -- across 68 contests in 2023-24. A fierce competitor, Larkin fought to the bitter end of the regular season, and had it not been for the captain's late-season surge -- including two goals and five assists in the final four games -- the Wings wouldn't have had even the slightest hope for a playoff berth in those final moments of the 2023-24 campaign. Larkin appeared in five playoff games as a rookie in 2016, but the Wings haven't returned to the postseason since then. Staying healthy and solidifying his chemistry with Alex DeBrincat on the top line will be crucial steps in getting Larkin where he needs to be from both a fantasy standpoint and in terms of his playoff aspirations.... Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Captain Clutch
Larkin scored the overtime winner on the power play to complement an assist in Saturday's 5-4 overtime win over the Maple Leafs. This is an example of a captain showing up for the biggest moment of his entire season. A regulation loss would have been devastating to Detroit's playoff hopes, but Larkin's clutch contributions helped the team avoid a total meltdown after permitting three unanswered goals in the second period. Larkin seems to hover around a point-per-game pace year in and year out, with this season being no exception. The fleet-footed pivot has a career-high 33 goals to go along with 34 assists through 66 appearances. There are two games to go for the Wings in the regular season.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Three points in OT loss
Larkin scored a goal and added two assists in Thursday's 6-5 overtime loss to the Penguins. He helped set up two of Lucas Raymond's three goals on the night, and Larkin's own tally midway through the third period sparked a rally from a 5-3 deficit that earned Detroit a potentially crucial point in the standings. Since returning from a lower-body injury, Larkin has racked up six goals and 11 points in the last 10 games, and he needs one more goal in the Red Wings' final three games to set a new career high with 33.... Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Nets two goals in return
Larkin returned from a lower-body injury against the Islanders on Thursday, scoring two goals through 16:32 of ice time in a 6-3 win. Larkin missed eight straight games before lacing his skates for this huge home win featuring his own even-strength tally in the second period and an empty-netter. The 27-year-old captain has a team-leading 28 goals to complement that same number of assists through 56 contests. Detroit won just two games while Larkin was out of commission -- fans of the Winged Wheel had been hoping the likes of Patrick Kane and Alex DeBrincat would've been able to hold down the fort. At any rate, the Original Six club holds the second wild-card spot in the Eastern Conference with 12 games left in the regular season.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Expected to play Thursday
Larkin (lower body) took line rushes in warmups, putting him on track to return to the lineup Thursday versus the Islanders, Helene St. James of the Detroit Free Press reports. Larkin has missed eight games with the injury. The 27-year-old centered Lucas Raymond and David Perron in warmups, which suggests Larkin should be able to handle his usual top-line assignment. He's racked up 54 points over 55 outings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Game-time call Thursday
Larkin (lower body) will be a game-time decision versus the Islanders on Thursday, Daniella Bruce of the Red Wings' official site reports. Larkin could be ready to return from an eight-game absence due to his lower-body issue. At this point, if the 27-year-old center can't go Thursday, fantasy players can probably expect him back against Nashville on Saturday. Prior to his absence, Larkin notched three goals on 15 shots and four assists in his last eight outings. He'll retake his spot on the first line whenever he's cleared to play.... See More ... Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Out Tuesday, iffy for Thursday
Larkin (lower body) won't play Tuesday versus Columbus and is considered questionable for Thursday's game against the Islanders, Max Bultman of The Athletic reports. Larkin skated with the team Tuesday, which is an encouraging sign, but he'll nonetheless be sidelined for at least one more game due to his lower-body injury. The 27-year-old pivot has racked up 26 goals and 54 points through 55 contests this campaign, so fantasy managers should plan on keeping a close eye on his status leading up to puck drop versus the Isles.... Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Will miss next three games
Larkin (lower body) won't return this weekend but might resume practicing after that, Ansar Khan of MLive.com reports Wednesday. That rules Larkin out for Detroit's upcoming contests against Arizona, Buffalo and Pittsburgh on Thursday, Saturday and Sunday, respectively. He has 26 goals and 54 points in 55 appearances in 2023-24. Larkin should serve in a top-six capacity and on the first power-play unit when healthy.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Set to miss two weeks
Larkin is expected to be sidelined for approximately two weeks with a lower-body injury. Given the expected length of Larkin's absence, it wouldn't be surprising to see him land on injured reserve in the coming days. J.T. Compher will likely get the first crack at taking over as the top-line center while Larkin, who's racked up 26 goals and 54 points through 55 contests this season, is on the shelf.... See More ... Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Two-point effort Tuesday
Larkin produced a goal and an assist in Tuesday's 8-3 rout of the Capitals. Both points came in the third period as Detroit put the game away. Larkin failed to score a point in the first three games after the All-Star break, but he's quickly regained his form with three goals and six points in the last six contests.... See More ... Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Carries team to OT win
Larkin scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Thursday's 2-1 overtime win over the Avalanche. The Red Wings got blanked through the first two periods, but Larkin woke his team up by scoring his 25th goal of the season midway through the third. The 27-year-old then drew two defenders to him in OT before dropping a no-look backhand pass to Patrick Kane for the winner. Larkin has found the scoresheet in three straight games, and in 19 contests since the beginning of January he's racked up 12 goals and 20 points.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Helps team douse Flames
Larkin crafted a power-play goal in Saturday's 5-0 win over the Flames. Larkin entered the contest with a minus-7 rating and box-score goose eggs between the previous three games, but it's rare that a player of his caliber would be held down for too long. Larkin's up to 24 goals and 24 assists for a point-per-game average. His man-advantage helper gives him 20 power-play points for the season, yet there's still hope among Detroit fans that the captain can set the bar even higher since Patrick Kane is healthy again and thriving with a four-game point streak on the right wing.... Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Two goals to extend streak
Larkin tallied a pair of goals in Saturday's 5-2 win over Vegas. Larkin opened the scoring five minutes into the first period, beating Logan Thompson with a wrister off the rush before sealing the Detroit victory with an empty-netter. The two-score game extended Larkin's point streak to 11 contests -- he has nine goals and 15 points in that span. Overall, the 27-year-old center has 46 points (22 goals, 24 assists) through 43 outings this season.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Pots game-winner for goal No. 20
Larkin scored the game-winning goal in Thursday's 3-0 victory over the Flyers. The 27-year-old roofed a bouncing puck over Samuel Ersson less than two minutes into the second period to open the scoring, and it was all the offense Alex Lyon would need. Larkin extended his point streak to 10 games in the process, a surge in which he's racked up seven goals and 13 points. He remains on pace for a career-best season with 20 goals and 44 points in 42 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Two points in Tuesday's loss
Larkin scored a power-play goal and added an even-strength assist in Tuesday's 5-4 loss to the Stars. Both points came in the third period as Detroit tried to rally from a 5-2 deficit. Larkin extended his point streak to nine games with the performance, a stretch in which he's compiled six goals and 12 points, and nearly half of that production (four goals and a helper) has come on the power play.... Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Powers up with apple
Larkin managed a power-play assist in Friday's 4-2 loss to the Hurricanes. There's no doubt that Larkin cares more about the pursuit of winning hockey games than a personal point streak, and the Wings fell short in this one, but fantasy managers counting on Detroit's captain must be thrilled that he's put up a goal or an assist in seven consecutive tilts. Larkin has motored his way toward five goals and four assists in that span, plus he's two man-advantage points away from 20 for the second time in his career.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Four-game, five-point streak
Larkin scored twice Saturday in a 5-3 win over the Kings. Larkin's first was complete roof daddy - he wired a shot from a sharp angle over Cam Talbot's right shoulder early in the first period. His second came on the power play at the midway point of the second. Larkin has five points (three goals, two assists) and 14 shots during a four-game point streak. He has registered 16 goals and 36 points through 36 contests this campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Posts assist in OT loss
Larkin posted an assist in Thursday's 3-2 overtime loss to the Oilers. Larkin managed only shot in the contest, but the captain's apple extended his point streak to three games. The talented top-line pivot has just one multi-point effort in a month's span, but he's still performing at a predictable level overall based on 14 goals and 20 assists, including 15 points on the power play, through 35 games.... Red Wings' Dylan Larkin: Nets power-play marker
Larkin scored a power-play goal on five shots in Sunday's 3-2 win over the Ducks. Larkin tallied from the slot to tie the game at 1-1 midway through the first period. He has three goals and five assists over 10 outings since he returned from an upper-body injury in December. The 27-year-old center continues to be a significant part of the Red Wings' offense with 14 goals, 33 points (15 on the power play), 119 shots on net and a minus-2 rating through 34 contests this season....
