Cowboys' Jourdan Lewis: Gets new deal
Lewis re-signed with the Cowboys on a one-year contract Thursday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.
Lewis officially became a free agent Wednesday, but it took less than 24 hours for the Michigan product to re-up with his old team. Selected in the third round of the 2017 NFL Draft, Lewis has spent all seven seasons of his career with Dallas and is now set to remain with the Cowboys for at least an eighth season. The 28-year-old bounced back in 2023 from an injury-shortened 2022 campaign due to a Lisfranc injury to record 52 tackles (36 solo), five pass breakups, one interception, three forced fumbles and two fumble recoveries across 16 regular-season games.

Lewis missed Week 1 after sitting out all of training camp and the preseason while recovering from a Lisfranc injury, but he then appeared in all remaining 16 regular-season games for Dallas, operating as the backup to DaRon Bland and Stephon Gilmore. Now a pending unrestricted free agent, Lewis will likely have to search for a similar backup role elsewhere in the league.

Cowboys' Jourdan Lewis: Snags first '23 INT in win
Lewis finished with six tackles (three solo) and an interception in Saturday's 20-19 win over the Lions.
Lewis got his first interception of the year at the beginning of the second quarter on a Jared Goff pass intended for David Montgomery. He now joins DaRon Bland, Stephon Gilmore and Trevon Diggs as the Dallas corners with an INT this season. As the backup to Bland and Gilmore, Lewis is up to 49 tackles (33 solo), one interception, two forced fumbles and a fumble recovery over 15 games this season.

Cowboys' Jourdan Lewis: Activated from PUP list
Lewis was activated from the PUP list Tuesday, Patrik Walker of the Cowboys' website reports.
The veteran cornerback will be on the roster for Week 1, but it's not yet clear just how close Lewis is to being ready for game action after missing all of training camp and the preseason while completing his recovery from a Lisfranc injury. Once he's able to suit up, he'll primarily compete with DaRon Bland for snaps as the slot cornerback.
