Cabbage was optioned to Triple-A Sugar Land on Tuesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. Cabbage will head back to the minors Tuesday to make room for Chas McCormick (hamstring) on the big-league roster. In 14 plate appearances with Houston, Cabbage slashed .214/.214/.286 with two runs scored and three RBi.... See More ... See Less

Astros' Trey Cabbage: Returns from Triple-A
The Astros recalled Cabbage from Triple-A Sugar Land on Wednesday, Chandler Rome of The Athletic reports. Cabbage was returned to Triple-A after serving as the 27th man for the Astros' two-game series with the Rockies in Mexico City last weekend, but he'll be back with the big club just two days later after Houston optioned struggling first baseman Jose Abreu to their spring training facility. While he's up with the Astros, Cabbage will provide depth in the corner outfield and at first base.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Trey Cabbage: Sent back to minors
The Astros returned Cabbage to Triple-A Sugar Land on Monday, Matt Kawahara of the Houston Chronicle reports. Cabbage served as the Astros' 27th man for the club's two-game series in Mexico City versus the Rockies over the weekend, going 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI while starting in left field in Saturday's 12-4 win before heading to the bench for Sunday's 8-2 win. The 26-year-old should get the chance to play on an everyday basis as he heads back to Sugar Land.... See More ... See Less -
Astros' Trey Cabbage: Productive in 2024 debut
Cabbage went 1-for-2 with a double and an RBI on Saturday against the Rockies. Cabbage was called up to serve as Houston's 27th man for the Mexico City Series, and he was immediately slotted into the lineup to make his 2024 debut. He delivered the RBI knock in his first plate appearance, though he was pulled in the sixth inning in favor of pinch hitter Mauricio Dubon. Cabbage will almost certainly be back with Triple-A Sugar Land after the team's weekend series abroad, where he's maintained a .271 batting average while also striking out 31.9 percent of the time across 91 plate appearances.... Astros' Trey Cabbage: Lands with Astros in trade
The Astros acquired Cabbage from the Angels on Wednesday in exchange for Carlos Espinosa. Cabbage had been designated for assignment over the weekend and now has a new home. The 26-year-old was one of just two minor leaguers to go 30-30 in 2023, collecting 30 home runs and 32 stolen bases at Triple-A Salt Lake. There's lots of swing and miss in his game, however, as he fanned at a 30 percent rate at Salt Lake and a whopping 46.4 percent rate during his brief time with the Angels. Cabbage will provide depth at first base and in the outfield.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Trey Cabbage: Returns to Triple-A
Cabbage was optioned to Triple-A Salt Lake on Sunday. The 26-year-old was called up by the Angels on Aug. 25 and went 4-for-19 with a double, an RBI, three runs and nine strikeouts in 10 games. Cabbage will now return to Salt Lake, where he has a .307/.372/.595 slash line with 27 homers and 31 steals this season.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Trey Cabbage: Starting in left field
Cabbage is starting in left field and will hit seventh in Thursday's game against the Guardians, Rhett Bollinger of MLB.com reports. Cabbage was recalled from Triple-A Salt Lake on Aug. 25, but he's started only five of 12 games since. However, the Angels placed Randal Grichuk on waivers Wednesday, so the team could give Cabbage some additional playing time down the stretch. In his latest stint in the majors, the rookie outfielder has gone 3-for-13 with six strikeouts.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Trey Cabbage: Recalled from Salt Lake
The Angels recalled Cabbage from Triple-A Salt Lake on Friday. With Mike Trout (wrist) headed back to the injured list, Cabbage will come up from the minors to take Trout's place and provide additional depth to Los Angeles' outfield. The 26-year-old has slashed .406/.443/.688 with four home runs and 17 RBI across 71 plate appearances since being optioned to Salt Lake at the end of July, though his minor-league success has yet to translate to the big leagues.... Angels' Trey Cabbage: Sent back to minors
The Angels optioned Cabbage to Triple-A Salt Lake on Monday. Cabbage lost hold of his near-everyday role as well as his spot on the Angels' 26-man active roster after the club acquired first baseman C.J. Cron and outfielder Randal Grichuk in a trade with the Rockies on Sunday. Though the 26-year-old was versatile during his time in Anaheim with starts at first base and in right and center field, he hit just .206 with no walks and a 48.6 percent strikeout rate in 35 plate appearances. He'll get a chance to continue playing on a regular basis back in Salt Lake.... See More ... See Less -
Angels' Trey Cabbage: Hits bench versus lefty
Cabbage is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Yankees, Sam Blum of The Athletic reports. With southpaw Carlos Rodon on the hill for the Yankees, the lefty-hitting Cabbage will retreat to the bench, paving the way for Eduardo Escobar to pick up a start at first base. Cabbage, who went 4-for-10 with a pair of doubles and two RBI while starting each of the past three games, should have a fairly clear path to playing time versus right-handed pitching so long as both Anthony Rendon (shin) and Brandon Drury (shoulder) are on the IL.... Angels' Trey Cabbage: Healthy for spring camp
Cabbage (forearm) has appeared in each of the Angels' first four Cactus League games, going 2-for-7 with a double and two walks. Cabbage didn't appear in any minor-league games after mid-May of last season due to a left forearm fracture, but he was cleared for the start of spring training and appears to be making up for the lost time by getting plenty of at-bats early on during Cactus League play. Though he's seen most of his time in the minors in the corner outfield, Cabbage has been deployed exclusively as a designated hitter or first baseman so far this spring, so it's possible his left throwing shoulder isn't yet back to 100 percent. Regardless, Cabbage looks like he'll be ready to go for the start of the upcoming minor-league season, with Triple-A Salt Lake or Double-A Rocket City being his most likely destination.... Angels' Trey Cabbage: Facing extended absence
Cabbage is expected to miss 3-to-4 months after he was diagnosed with a fractured left forearm, which he suffered Friday in a game for Double-A Rocket City, Mike DiGiovanna of the Los Angeles Times reports. Before picking up the injury, Cabbage slashed .327/.434/.664 with 10 home runs and 10 stolen bases over 136 plate appearances. His projected recovery timeline puts him in danger of missing the rest of the season.... See More ... See Less
