Single-A Lakeland reinstated McGonigle (hamstring) from its 7-day injured list Tuesday. McGonigle missed about two weeks of action to begin the season while recovering from a left hamstring strain, but the injury hasn't inhibited him since he made his return less than a week ago. The infielder has gone 5-for-11 with two doubles, three walks, two runs, two RBI and three stolen bases in four games since returning to the lineup.... See More ... See Less

Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Opens season on IL
Single-A Lakeland placed McGonigle (hamstring) on its 7-day injured list Friday. The 19-year-old shortstop won't be available for the start of the Florida State League season after he strained his left hamstring during spring training and is still working his way back from the injury. McGonigle is without a definitive target date for a return, but provided he doesn't need surgery to address the injury, he should be back in action at some point later in April or in May.... Tigers' Kevin McGonigle: Battling hamstring strain
McGonigle has a strained left hamstring, Sam Dykstra of MiLB.com reports. McGonigle began progressing toward a return Saturday, but his injury will prevent him from participating in the Tigers' Spring Breakout game against Philadelphia. The 19-year-old infielder worked his way up to Single-A in his first season as a pro, slashing .350/.438/.475 across 48 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less

Jason Beck@beckjason19H agoRyan Vilade no longer has a locker in Tigers clubhouse. He was on field briefly this afternoon. He would appear to be the roster move for Matt Manning’s return to Tigers rotation.

Evan Woodbery@evanwoodbery21H agoAt the 40-game mark, the Tigers are a legit .500, not a flukey .500. That's nothing to throw a parade about, but it's not a bad start for a team that aspires to be in the playoff race this summer for the first time since 2016. https://t.co/YdGSYdYOu7

Jason Beck@beckjason23H agoWorth noting in Statcast's newly-released bat tracking data: Spencer Torkelson's bat speed is third-best on Tigers and 78th percentile among MLB players. His swing length is pretty short, too. But he doesn't square up as often as other hitters. https://t.co/xLOL45b20V

Evan Woodbery@evanwoodbery1D agoCouple of moves on the horizon for the Tigers. With a right-hander pitching for the Marlins today and a left-hander tomorrow, my guess would be... Matt Manning for Ryan Vilade today Gio Urshela for Akil Baddoo tomorrow But it's also possible that both happen today.
