The Rangers placed Coleman (elbow) on the 60-day injured list Saturday. Coleman underwent surgery on his right elbow in April of 2023 and will officially miss the first few months of the regular season as he continues to recover. His 40-man roster spot will be filled by Jose Barrero, who was claimed off waivers from Cincinnati on Saturday.... See More ... See Less

Rangers' Carson Coleman: Chosen in Rule 5 Draft
The Rangers selected Coleman (elbow) during the 2023 Rule 5 Draft on Wednesday. Coleman sat out the entirety of last season while recovering from elbow surgery, so it's not much of a surprise the Yankees didn't add him to their 40-man roster ahead of the Rule 5 Draft. The 25-year-old had a 2.86 ERA in 35 games at the Double-A level in 2022, and he will need to be up with the Rangers for the entirety of the upcoming campaign in order for the club to retain him.... Yankees' Carson Coleman: Out indefinitely at Double-A
Double-A Somerset placed Coleman on its 60-day injured list Thursday after the right-hander recently underwent surgery on his throwing elbow, Jim Callis of MLB.com reports. The nature of Coleman's elbow surgery as well as when exactly it occurred aren't known, but John Brophy of PinstripedProspects.com relays that the 25-year-old will be sidelined for most of the season. Coleman was one of the organization's top relief arms between stops at Somerset and High-A Hudson Valley in 2022, pitching to a 2.13 ERA, 0.88 WHIP and 95:19 K:BB while holding batters to a .170 average over 63.1 innings.... Evan Grant@Evan_P_Grant4H agoAndrew Heaney is warming for the Rangers. The club didn't really have a long man tonight. It was hope Heaney had long night or go with an opener ahead of him. In effect, Eovaldi functioned something like an opener, going 3 IP on 37 pitches.
