Schneider went 1-for-4 with a walk, two RBI, one stolen base and one run scored in Wednesday's 9-2 win over the White Sox.
Schneider's two-run single sparked a seven-run rally for the Blue Jays in the second inning. The second baseman is up to three steals on the year, all of which have come since May 5. He's added .246/.345/.451 slash line with five home runs, 19 RBI, 20 runs scored and 10 doubles across 142 plate appearances. Schneider has hit leadoff in five straight games, with four of those games against a right-handed starting pitcher.

Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Moving into regular role
Schneider will start at second base and bat seventh in Wednesday's game against the Phillies.
Kevin Kiermaier's return from the injured list Saturday was expected to cost Schneider some playing time, but the latter player will end up making his third straight start Wednesday. The previous two starts came in left field, but Schneider will man the keystone in the series finale in Philadelphia while the lefty-hitting Cavan Biggio heads to the bench against right-hander Aaron Nola. Schneider holds a 201-point edge in OPS over Biggio for the season (.822 to .621), so the Blue Jays could be motivated to give Schneider an extended look at second base while he's swinging the hotter bat of the two.

Blue Jays' Davis Schneider: Retreats to bench
Schneider is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.
Though he'll hit the bench after drawing starts in the past three games, Schneider's playing time should trend up after Kevin Kiermaier (hip) was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday. Triple-A Buffalo call-up Addison Barger will end up replacing Kiermaier in the outfield Wednesday, but expect him to fill more of a utility role while he's up with Toronto, which would enable Schneider to get regular reps in left field. Schneider is batting just .216 through 51 at-bats this season, but he's made his 11 hits count with three home runs and two doubles.

Schneider went deep off Joe Musgrove in the second inning for this first home run since April 2 and later plated another run in the seventh on a groundout. Making his first start of the season with Tyler Alexander set as the bulk pitcher for Tampa Bay, Schneider ripped an 88.8 mph fastball from the southpaw in the fifth inning over the left-field fence. The 25-year-old was expected to see the majority of his playing time this season at second base, either in a platoon or a timeshare with Cavan Biggio, but Schneider got the start in left field Sunday while Biggio was in right and Isiah Kiner-Falefa shifted to the keystone. The Blue Jays have a lot of moving parts in their lineup, but if Schneider gets hot at the plate, he'll get consistent playing time.

Davis Schneider has endured a rough spring training with a .171/.255/.341 slash line through 16 Grapefruit League games, but his ability to play three positions (second base, third base and left field) in addition to notching a 1.007 OPS in his first 141 big-league plate appearances late last season likely factored into the Blue Jays' decision to include him on the 26-man active roster. Despite his success in his first taste of the big leagues, Schneider still appears likely to begin the upcoming season as a short-side platoon player while Cavan Biggio, Isiah Kiner-Falefa and Daulton Varsho appear secure as the Blue Jays' projected starters at second base, third base and left field, respectively.
