Wade left Monday's game against the Phillies due to a left hamstring strain, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Wade appeared to be grabbing his left knee before exiting Monday's game, but after further evaluation, it's been determined that he's dealing with a hamstring issue. The team has yet to comment further on whether a trip to the 10-day injured list will be required, but it seems likely given the nature of the injury, along with the fact that Wade will undergo an MRI on Tuesday, according to Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic. Wilmer Flores would be in line for more chances at first base if Wade misses additional time.... See More ... See Less

Giants' LaMonte Wade: Exits game with knee injury
Wade was lifted from Monday's game against the Phillies with an apparent left knee injury, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Wade doubled off the wall in the bottom of the fifth inning but came up lame and had to be removed for a pinch-runner. He had missed the previous two games with a hamstring issue, but it would appear this is unrelated. The Giants should have more on Wade soon.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Returns to action Monday
Wade (hamstring) will start at first base and bat second in Monday's game versus the Phillies. Wade had to exit a game this past Friday after tweaking his hamstring, causing him to miss the next two contests. He's feeling well enough to give it a go in this one, though, as the Giants take on right-hander Taijuan Walker and the Phillies.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Absent from lineup Sunday
Wade (hamstring) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Mets Wade tweaked his hamstring in the ninth inning of San Fransisco's 8-7 win over the Mets on Friday, and he'll be out of the lineup for the second straight game as the two clubs finish up their series. Wilmer Flores will fill in at first base for Wade and will bat fifth.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Battling hamstring issue
Manager Bob Melvin said Saturday that Wade tweaked his hamstring during the ninth inning of Friday's win over the Mets, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Melvin noted that the Giants consider Wade's injury to be minor, but they have decided not to push their luck and will keep him out of the lineup for Saturday's contest. Wilmer Flores will cover first base and bat fifth while Wade recovers.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Gets aboard six times Wednesday
Wade went 3-for-3 with three walks, one RBI and two runs scored in Wednesday's 9-5 extra-inning win over the Pirates. This was Wade's first three-hit game of the year, as well as his second three-walk effort. It's arguably the best example of what he's brought to the table in 2024 -- decent contact hitting and remarkable patience at the plate. Wade is batting .340 with a 19:12 BB:K over 19 games in May. For the season, the first baseman is at a .336/.484/.431 slash line with two home runs, 16 RBI, 20 runs scored, five doubles and one stolen base over 153 plate appearances. Wade briefly saw a full-time role earlier in the month when Jorge Soler was on the injured list, but since Soler's return, Wade has returned to a strong-side platoon with Wilmer Flores at first base.... Giants' LaMonte Wade: Idle against lefty
Wade isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game against the Rockies. Wade will begin Saturday's contest in the dugout as left-hander Ty Blach prepares to toe the slab for Colorado. Wilmer Flores will pick up a start at first base while batting third.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Knocks second homer
Wade went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and two walks in Sunday's 6-5 extra-inning win over the Reds. Wade has gotten on base in his last 13 games, going 11-for-34 with a 13:10 BB:K in that span. While he's been an on-base machine this season, he's struggled to hit for power -- his homer Sunday was his second of the year, and he's added just five doubles over 40 contests. Wade is slashing .340/.480/.457 with 14 RBI, 14 runs scored and one stolen base over 123 plate appearances. He's just shy of being a qualified hitter due to beginning the year in a strong-side platoon role, but he's seen more opportunities versus southpaws since Jorge Soler (shoulder) went on the injured list Wednesday.... Giants' LaMonte Wade: Reaches four times in win
Wade went 1-for-2 with three walks and two RBI in Tuesday's 5-0 win over the Rockies. Wade reached base four times and produced a key two-run single in the fourth to extend the Giants' lead to 4-0. Wade strictly operates in a platoon against right-handed pitching, though if he had enough plate appearances to qualify, he'd be leading the majors with a .485 OBP and 21.4 percent walk rate. He's now reached safely in eight straight games and is slashing .351/.485/.442 with a homer, 10 RBI, 12 runs and a 21:26 BB:K in 101 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Hits bench Thursday
Wade is out of the lineup for Thursday's game against the Red Sox, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Wade went 0-for-6 with three walks and an RBI while starting at first base in each of the last three games, but he'll get a day off as the Giants and Red Sox wrap up their series with an afternoon contest. Wilmer Flores will join the San Francisco infield as a replacement for Wade.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Resting against lefty
Wade isn't in the Giants' lineup for Saturday's game against Pittsburgh, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. With the Giants set to face lefty Martin Perez on Saturday, the lefty-hitting Wade will stay put in the dugout to begin the game. Wilmer Flores will start at first base instead and bat second.... Giants' LaMonte Wade: Sitting against southpaw
Wade is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Mets, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. As per usual, the lefty-hitting Wade finds himself on the bench while the Giants face off against a left-handed starting pitcher (Sean Manaea) in the series finale. Wilmer Flores will replace Wade at first base and as the Giants' No. 2 batter.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Resting versus lefty
Wade isn't in the Giants' lineup Friday versus the Diamondbacks, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. The lefty-hitting Wade will take a seat Friday as southpaw Jordan Montgomery prepares to make his first start of the season for Arizona. Wilmer Flores will take over at first base and bat second.... Giants' LaMonte Wade: Takes seat versus lefty
Wade is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Marlins, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Wade is one of three lefty-hitting regulars in the lineup who will take a seat with southpaw Trevor Rogers on the bump for Miami. Mike Yastrzemski and Michael Conforto will join Wade on the bench for the series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: On bench versus lefty
Wade is out of the lineup for Tuesday's game at Miami, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Lefty Ryan Weathers is pitching Tuesday for the Marlins, so Wade will take a seat despite his 1.220 OPS over his past nine contests. Wilmer Flores will start at first base and bat second.... Giants' LaMonte Wade: Launches first home run
Wade went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run and two runs scored while also drawing two walks in Saturday's win over Tampa Bay. Wade singled in his first at-bat before coming around to score San Francisco's first run of the game on a Michael Conforto double. The first baseman then launched a two-out, two-run home run off Ryan Pepiot in the top of the fifth to extend the Giants' lead to three runs, marking his first long ball of the season. Wade is now batting .375 in April with three RBI, five runs scored and seven walks to only five strikeouts. He's also hit safely in six of his last seven games.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Notches first steal
Wade went 0-for-2 with a walk and a stolen base in Friday's 2-1 loss to the Rays. Wade was hitless for the first time since April 5, but he was able to make an impact on the basepaths. He's not known for speed with a career high of six steals back in 2021 and no more than two attempts in either of the last two campaigns. The first baseman is hitting .343 with one RBI, five runs scored, three doubles and no home runs over 41 plate appearances this season. Wade continues to see a strong-side platoon role and is unlikely to get many at-bats versus southpaws at all.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Out against lefty
Wade is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Nationals, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. With left-hander Patrick Corbin on the mound for Washington, the lefty-hitting Wade will give way to platoon partner Wilmer Flores at first base in the series finale.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Takes seat Tuesday
Wade isn't in the Giants' lineup for Tuesday's game against the Dodgers, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Wade will take a seat Tuesday with left-hander Ryan Yarbrough expected to serve as the Dodgers' primary pitcher behind opener Ryan Brasier. Wilmer Flores will get the nod at first base, and Mike Yastrzemski will start in right field.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' LaMonte Wade: Likely to platoon again
Wade has gone 3-for-14 with a home run and three RBI over his first five Cactus League games. Wade remains a strong-side platoon option at first base. The Giants' signing of Matt Chapman, who is likely for an everyday role at third base, has displaced J.D. Davis. Righty hitters like Davis and Wilmer Flores could fill in at first base against opposing southpaws. Wade partially got back to his 2021 form last season, hitting .256 with a .790 OPS, 17 home runs, 45 RBI and 64 runs scored across a career-high 135 games.... See More ... See Less
