Buxton isn't in the Twins' lineup for Thursday's game against the Yankees.
Buxton has gone hitless in 14 at-bats since the beginning of June, and the Twins will give him a day off to regroup during Thursday's series finale. Willi Castro will fill the opening in center field, allowing Kyle Farmer to start at second base while batting eighth.
Buxton is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game against the Royals.
Though Buxton played the entirety of Tuesday's 4-2 win and reached base four times while adding a steal, his knee collided with the left shin of the Royals' Vinnie Pasquantino in the third inning, when Buxton was running down the first-base line. The Twins haven't indicated that Buxton is dealing with anything more than minor wear and tear a day later, but he'll be given some rest Wednesday in any case. Minnesota will go with Willi Castro in center field against Kansas City starting pitcher Seth Lugo.

Buxton got on base in all four plate appearances, logging an infield single in the third frame and generating a triple in the fifth. It wasn't until the bottom of the eighth that Buxton came around to score, reaching via a base on balls and stealing second base before being plated by Edouard Julien on a base hit. Since returning from the IL on May 18, Buxton is batting .267 with two homers while also generating a 27.3 percent strikeout rate.

Buxton is eligible to return from the IL on Tuesday, but the Twins want to give him some time to get in some minor-league at-bats before summoning him to the big leagues. He shouldn't be in line for an extended rehab assignment, so fantasy managers can expect Buxton to return from the IL as soon as this weekend.
