The Giants placed Soler on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right shoulder strain, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Soler's shoulder has caused him to miss the last three games, and he'll now officially be sidelined for another several days. The move is retroactive to Sunday, so it's possible the 32-year-old slugger is able to return in a week, but the Giants will wait and see how his shoulder heals. Heliot Ramos was recalled from Triple-A Sacramento in a corresponding move.... See More ... See Less

Giants' Jorge Soler: Sitting again Tuesday
Soler (shoulder) isn't in the Giants' lineup for Tuesday's game against Colorado, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Although Soler's shoulder injury has now kept him out of the lineup for three consecutive games, the Giants have not said anything that would suggest a future move to the IL for the 32-year-old slugger. His absence Tuesday will allow Wilmer Flores to serve as the designated hitter and bat fifth.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Jorge Soler: Remains on bench Monday
Soler (shoulder) is out of the lineup for Monday's game in Philadelphia, Maria I. Guardado of MLB.com reports. Soler will be on the bench for a second straight game while he tends to a shoulder injury. With Soler out of the lineup, LaMonte Wade will get a day off at first base and will serve as the Giants' designated hitter.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Jorge Soler: Dealing with shoulder issue
Soler was out of the lineup Sunday versus the Phillies due to a shoulder issue, Andrew Baggarly of The Athletic reports. Soler is considered day-to-day, which suggests the injury isn't too severe. Wilmer Flores got the start at designated hitter Sunday and could continue to play there if Soler isn't available for Monday's series finale in Philadelphia.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Jorge Soler: Slugs homer in loss
Soler went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a walk in Saturday's 4-3 extra-inning loss to the Pirates. Soler's 10th-inning blast got the Giants within a run, but the comeback effort fell short. He went 0-for-12 with one walk and six strikeouts over the previous three games. Soler's power is at an acceptable level (five homers, .414 slugging percentage) through 28 games, but he's batting just .222 with a .736 OPS, well under his .250 average and .853 OPS from last season.... Giants' Jorge Soler: Steps out of lineup
Soler is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against the Diamondbacks, Shayna Rubin of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. It's the first day off of the season for Soler, who has gone 5-for-16 with a solo homer during a modest four-game hit streak. Wilmer Flores will bat third as the designated hitter Sunday.... Giants' Jorge Soler: Launches third homer
Soler went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Saturday's 11-2 win over the Rays. Soler went seven games without a long ball, and he hit just .125 (3-for-24) with five walks in that span. The designated hitter's power has been there for the Giants so far with three homers through 15 games, but he's batting just .208 with four RBI, nine runs scored, three doubles and a 10:13 BB:K over 64 plate appearances.... Giants' Jorge Soler: Goes yard again Wednesday
Soler went 2-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and two total runs scored in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to the Dodgers. Soler has powered up with homers in back-to-back games, and he has an RBI in each of the last three contests. The slugger is 7-for-25 (.280) with a 5:6 BB:K through seven games this season. Soler displayed better plate discipline with a 24.3 percent strikeouts rate and an 11.6 percent walk rate in 2023, but it's possible he could build on those marks in 2024. His playing time as the Giants' designated hitter has been steady, so he should continue to be heavily involved in run production.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Jorge Soler: Swats first homer of 2024
Soler went 2-for-3 with a solo home run during Tuesday's loss to the Dodgers. After notching 36 long balls a season ago, it took Soler six games in a Giants uniform to get on the board in the homer column. He tagged Ryan Yarbrough for a solo shot in the sixth inning. While the power has been down so far, it's still super early, and Soler has been able to contribute elsewhere with five runs scored and a .370 OBP.... See More ... See Less -
Giants' Jorge Soler: Already dialed in
Soler has gone 5-for-10 over four Cactus League games. Soler was a little delayed getting into game action after signing with the Giants in mid-February. It hasn't slowed him down so far, as he looks to be the reliable middle-of-the-order bat the Giants expected. Soler hasn't logged an extra-base hit yet in the spring, but he's making good contact.... Giants' Jorge Soler: Joining San Fran on three-year deal
Soler agreed to a three-year, $42 million contract with the Giants on Monday, Susan Slusser of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Soler gives the Giants a right-handed power bat for the middle of their lineup. With the Marlins last season, he slashed .250/.341/.512 while adding 36 home runs, 75 RBI, 77 runs scored, 24 doubles and one stolen base. The Giants had previously planned on having Michael Conforto serve as their primary designated hitter in 2024, but Soler is now likely to fill that spot while Conforto and fellow left-handed hitter Mike Yastrzemski project as the top options in the corner-outfield spots, at least against right-handed pitching.... Jorge Soler: Opting for free agency
Soler has informed the Marlins that he will opt out of the final year of his contract on Thursday, Craig Mish of the Miami Herald reports. Soler played out two seasons of his three-year contract, but he was set for a relatively low salary of $9 million in 2024. He hit 36 home runs and maintained a .853 OPS across 580 plate appearances in 2023, so there should be plenty of interest in him from teams around the league.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Idle for nightcap
Soler isn't in the Marlins' lineup for the second game of Wednesday's doubleheader against the Mets, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. After an 0-for-4 performance to begin the day, Soler will ride the pine to begin the second game of Wednesday's twin bill. Jake Burger will serve as Miami's DH while Jon Berti starts at third base.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Homers in return
Soler (oblique) went 2-for-3 with a two-run home run, two runs scored and a walk in Sunday's 16-2 win over Atlanta. Soler was activated from the injured list Sunday and was in the lineup for the first time since Sept. 5. He wasted little time making an impact, drilling a two-run shot in the sixth inning. The 31-year-old slugger is up to 36 home runs this season, including 11 in 26 games since the start of August. Soler's season slash line is up to .243/.332/.520 with 73 RBI through 536 plate appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Reinstated, batting second Sunday
Soler (oblique) was activated from the 10-day injured list and is batting second as Miami's designated hitter Sunday against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Soler landed on the shelf Sept. 6 with an oblique strain -- after he missed the previous five games with a hip issue -- but he'll rejoin the active roster following a quick stay on the IL. The veteran slugger is hitting just .231 in 25 games since the start of August, though he's still showcased his power during that stretch with 10 homers.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Starts hitting progression
Soler (oblique) has been cleared to begin a hitting progression, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Soler has been rehabbing from a right oblique strain in Miami, and he's been cleared to start ramping up his baseball activities. He'll be eligible to return from the 10-day injured list Sept. 16 against Atlanta, though it's unclear if he'll be ready to go after missing the minimum.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Lands on IL with oblique strain
Soler was placed on the 10-day injured list Wednesday with a right oblique strain, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Soler apparently suffered the oblique strain Tuesday in his first game back from a five-game absence for a bout of right hip tightness. It's another tough blow for the NL Wild Card-hunting Marlins, who also placed staff ace Sandy Alcantara on the injured list Wednesday because of a flexor strain. Soler leaves behind an .842 OPS with 35 homers and 71 RBI through 126 games on the year.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Absent from Wednesday's lineup
Soler is not in the lineup for Wednesday's contest versus the Dodgers, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Soler returned to action Tuesday following a five-game absence with a hip injury. He didn't suffer any known setback, so this would appear to be the Marlins simply easing him back into things. Josh Bell will be the designated hitter, with Luis Arraez shifting over to first base and Xavier Edwards getting a start at second.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Returns to lineup Tuesday
Soler (hip) is back in the lineup Tuesday against the Dodgers. Soler will serve as the Marlins' designated hitter and bat second after missing nearly a full week of action due to tightness in his right hip. The 31-year-old slugger boasts an .843 OPS with 35 home runs and 71 RBI through 125 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Jorge Soler: Absent from lineup again
Soler (hip) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Soler will miss his fifth straight game on account of right hip tightness, an injury he first picked up in Tuesday's contest versus the Rays. Since Soler hasn't appeared off the bench in any of the previous four games, the Marlins could backdate a potential stint on the injured list, if one is deemed necessary. Miami may wait and see how Soler is feeling following Monday's off day before making a decision on whether he'll go on the IL prior to Tuesday's series opener with the Dodgers.... See More ...
