McMann (lower body) is making strides in his recovery but is not close to returning to action, Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun reports Thursday. At this point, McMann should probably be considered out indefinitely with his return to action seemingly a long way off. The 27-year-old center has already been sidelined for the club's last seven contests due to his lower-body injury. If he does return in the postseason, McMann would likely challenge for a top-six role, perhaps unseating Matthew Knies.... See More ... See Less

Maple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Nearing return to ice
Per Terry Koshan of The Toronto Sun, McMann (lower body) is getting closer to returning to practice, according to coach Sheldon Keefe. McMann missed the last two games of the regular season and will miss his fourth straight playoff contest Saturday after being injured versus Detroit on April 13. McMann was a pleasant surprise during the 2023-24 campaign, racking up 15 goals, nine assists and 117 hits in 56 appearances. He remains a possibility to return to action in the latter part of the opening round versus the Bruins.... See More ... See Less -
Maple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Might still play in Boston series
McMann (lower body) could still be an option against Boston, likely returning for Game 5 or 6, Nick Barden of The Hockey News reports Thursday. Based on McMann's reported timeline, he won't be available for Game 4 on Saturday. Considering the winger has yet to resume skating with the team, his continued absence shouldn't come as a surprise. Prior to getting hurt, the Alberta native managed just one point over his last eight appearances, despite seeing time in a top-line role.... See More ... See Less -

McMann (lower body) will miss Game 1 against Boston on Saturday, per Lance Hornby of The Toronto Sun. McMann was also absent from the final two contests of the regular season due to the injury. He finished the 2023-24 campaign with 15 goals, 24 points, 52 PIM and 117 hits across 56 outings. Although the Leafs will be without McMann, Calle Jarnkrok (hand) was activated off long-term injured reserve and will play versus the Bruins in his first appearance since March 14.... See More ... Maple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Exits Saturday's game
McMann (lower body) will not return to Saturday's tilt versus the Red Wings. McMann was injured in the first period after logging 4:10 of ice time. With the Maple Leafs trailing 4-1 after the first period, there may be at least some precautionary motivation to keep McMann out of the rest of the game. Toronto ends the season with a road back-to-back versus the Panthers on Tuesday and the Lightning on Wednesday. If McMann can't suit up, then Matthew Knies will likely see a larger role.... Maple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Big three-point effort

McMann opened the scoring at 4:17 of the first period when he one-timed a pass at the top of the crease on a feed from John Tavares, who was behind the net. He should continue to see time on Toronto's third line while also working on the second power-play unit.... See More ... See Less -

McMann found the back of the net three times in a 4-1 win over the Blues on Tuesday. It was a special night for McMann. After scoring only two total goals in his NHL career, he scored his first hat trick to finish off the Blues. The 27-year old winger played only 13:30 but he made the best of it, getting six shots, five hits and a plus-3 rating. His goal barrage started in the first period on the third shot of the game when he outworked the defenseman from behind the net to shove the puck through the five-hole. He added two more in the third period, including an empty-netter, to complete the hatty. After being moved between the AHL and the NHL multiple times this season, McMann is making a case to stay up with the big club.... See More ... See Less -

Maple Leafs' Bobby McMann: Snags assist in win
McMann garnered an assist in Thursday's 4-3 victory over the Flames. McMann is finding his grove offensively of late with three points in his last five games, nearly his entire total for the season thus far (seven). The 27-year-old Alberta native is never going to be confused for teammate Auston Matthews, but he could push for the 20-point threshold this year if he can maintain his current productivity and hold on to his place in the lineup ahead of Nick Robertson and Ryan Reaves (lower body)....
