Acciari clarified Thursday that he suffered a glute injury but would have been ready for the postseason after avoiding surgery, Andrew Destin of the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette reports. Acciari missed the final 12 games of the Penguins' season due to his glute injury. On the year, the 32-year-old center managed just seven points in 55 games, his lowest total since 2016-17 when he was in action for only 29 contests for the Bruins. Acciari figures to be locked into a bottom-six role for the Penguins next season, and he might even find himself a healthy scratch periodically if he continues to struggle offensively.... Penguins' Noel Acciari: Designated for IR
Acciari (lower body) was placed on injured reserve Tuesday. While the team didn't offer specifics, according to Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports, Acciari is headed for long-term injured reserve, which will effectively end his 2023-24 campaign. Acciari finds himself on injured reserve for the third time this season. The injuries have limited the 32-year-old center to just 55 games this season in which he registered a mere seven points to go with 123 hits. Samuel Poulin was called up in a corresponding move Tuesday and could be pressed into the lineup against the Hurricanes depending on the health of Jeff Carter (upper body).... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Injured Sunday
Acciari (lower body) will not return to Sunday's tilt with Colorado. Acciari blocked one shot in 4:56 of ice time prior to exiting the game. An update on his status should be available before Tuesday's matchup with Carolina. If Acciari misses any time, Joona Koppanen could slide back into the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Scores Thursday
Acciari scored a goal on his only shot in Thursday's 6-3 win over San Jose. Acciari opened the scoring midway through the first period, deflecting an Erik Karlsson shot past Magnus Chrona. It's the first goal since Dec. 31 for Acciari and just his second point in his last 22 games. The 32-year-old center now has four goals and six points through 50 games in a fourth-line role with Pittsburgh this season.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Ready to return
Acciari (upper body) is in the lineup versus the Capitals on Thursday. Acciari will return after a one-game absence with the injury, and he'll slot onto the third line due to Drew O'Connor's (concussion) absence. Acciari has just five points with 101 hits and 72 blocked shots over 45 appearances.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Game-time decision versus Caps
Acciari (upper body) will be a game-time call against Washington on Thursday, Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff reports. Acciari could return to action after missing just one game due to his upper-body issue. Considering the 32-year-old center is stuck in a 17-game goal drought, during which he registered just one assist and 20 shots, fantasy players shouldn't be banking on his offensive upside. If the center plays Thursday, it will likely be in a third-line role being vacated by Drew O'Connor (concussion).... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Unavailable Tuesday
Acciari (upper body) won't play Tuesday against Columbus, according to Michelle Crechiolo of the Penguins' official site. Acciari is still being evaluated, so a timetable for his return to the lineup is unclear. He has picked up five points, 51 shots on goal and 101 hits in 45 appearances this season. Jesse Puljujarvi will probably draw back in for Tuesday's contest due to Acciari's absence.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Bags apple Saturday
Acciari notched an assist and two shots on goal in Saturday's 4-3 loss to the Flames. The helper was Acciari's first point in five games since he returned from a concussion. The 32-year-old fourth-liner hasn't added much offense in 2023-24, picking up five points with 50 shots on net, 100 hits, 70 blocked shots and an even plus-minus rating. Acciari had 23 points between the Blues and the Maple Leafs last year, but his lack of offense this season makes him a non-factor in most fantasy formats.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Off injured reserve
Acciari (concussion) was taken off injured reserve Thursday, per Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports, which sets the stage for him to draw into the lineup for the evening's game against Montreal. Acciari missed the Penguins' previous six contests. He has three goals, four points, 91 hits and 59 blocks in 39 outings in 2023-24. Acciari is projected to play on the fourth line Thursday while Jesse Puljujarvi might serve as a healthy scratch.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Game-time decision Thursday
Acciari (concussion) will be a game-time decision versus Montreal on Thursday, Wes Crosby of NHL.com reports. Acciari has been out of action since Feb. 6. He has a goal, three assists, 91 hits and 59 blocked shots in 39 games. Should he return to the lineup against the Canadiens, look for Jesse Puljujarvi to be a healthy scratch.... See More ... Penguins' Noel Acciari: Cleared for contact
Acciari (concussion) was a full participant at Wednesday's practice, Seth Rorabaugh of Tribune-Review Sports reports. The fact that Acciari has been cleared to start taking contact is certainly an encouraging development, but there's still no concrete timetable for his return to game action. Either way, the 32-year-old vet has picked up only four points through 39 contests this season, so fantasy managers shouldn't need to track his status.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Placed on injured reserve
Acciari (concussion) was designated for injured reserve Tuesday. Acciari has already missed two games after suffering a concussion and now figures to be out of action for at least two more as the Penguins enter a back-to-back against Florida and Chicago on Wednesday and Thursday, respectively. Unless the Penguins are going to go with seven defensemen, fantasy players should expect a forward to be called up from the minors to fill out the forward group.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Exits after high hit
Acciari (upper body) won't return to Tuesday's game versus the Jets after receiving a high hit from Brenden Dillon. Acciari needed help getting off of the ice after the hit, and he was ruled out before the second period ended. If the 32-year-old misses additional time, Colin White could enter the lineup.... Penguins' Noel Acciari: Good to go
Acciari (upper body) will play Monday against Seattle. Acciari will return to his spot on the fourth line following a one-game absence. He has four points, 39 shots on goal, 51 blocked shots and 63 hits over 33 appearances this season. Acciari's return will bump Colin White from the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Game-time decision
Acciari (upper body) will be a game-time decision against Seattle on Monday. Acciari worked on the fourth line during Sunday's practice, which bodes well for his availability versus the Kraken. He was a late scratch for Saturday's 3-2 overtime loss to Carolina. Acciari has chipped in four points, 39 shots on goal, 51 blocked shots and 63 hits over 33 appearances this season.... See More ... Penguins' Noel Acciari: Day-to-day with upper-body injury
Acciari is considered day-to-day with an upper-body injury. Acciari was a last-minute scratch from the Penguins' lineup Saturday. The 32-year-old's absence allowed Colin White to draw into the lineup. Acciari's next chance to play is Monday versus the Kraken.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Late scratch Saturday
Acciari (undisclosed) was a late scratch for Saturday's game against Carolina, per Penguins play-by-play announcer Josh Getzoff. Acciari was originally projected to center the fourth line, but Colin White will instead serve in that role while making his Penguins debut. Acciari has three goals, four points, 63 hits and 51 blocks in 33 outings in 2023-24.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Removed from IR
Acciari (lower body) was activated from injured reserve Monday, per the NHL media site. It appears as though Acciari will return to the lineup Monday versus Minnesota after being considered a game-time decision following the morning skate. He is projected to center the fourth line following a seven-game absence. Acciari has supplied two goals, one assist, 25 shots on net, 28 blocked shots and 44 hits in 22 outings this campaign.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Game-time call Monday
Acciari (lower body) will be a game-time decision against the Wild on Monday. Acciari could get back into the lineup for the first time since Nov. 30 versus the Lightning, a stretch of seven games on the shelf due to his lower-body injury. The forward's primary value to the team comes from his ability to kill penalties, but he managed two goals on seven shots over his last six contests before the injury. If he plays, Acciari will likely move into a fourth-line role that would see Johnny Gruden dropped from the lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Penguins' Noel Acciari: Placed on injured reserve
Acciari (lower body) was put on injured reserve Friday. Acciari has missed the last three games and will sit out Friday's tilt in Florida. The veteran forward has two goals and an assist in 22 games this season. He is eligible to return Tuesday versus Arizona.... See More ... See Less
