Yancey joined the Packers' practice squad a couple weeks ago because the team is dealing with numerous injuries at wide receiver, so this could be a sign that both Randall Cobb (hamstring) and Geronimo Allison (hamstring) are on track to return after the bye week.

Yancey agreed to sign with the Packers' practice squad Thursday, Rob Demovsky of ESPN reports.
Yancey was originally cut by the Packers on Sept. 1 after spending all of the 2017 season with the team. The Green Bay receiving corps is banged up with Davante Adams (calf), Randall Cobb (hamstring) and Geronimo Allison (concussion) all dealing with injuries. If any of the three miss Sunday's game against Detroit, Yancey could be a candidate to join the active roster.

Yancey has slid into first-team reps thanks to Randall Cobb's ankle issues. A fifth-round pick of the 2017 NFL Draft, Yancey may have been one of the tougher cuts for the Packers to make as they reduced the roster to 53 players. With Max McCaffrey and Malachi Dupre also getting the ax Saturday, Jeff Janis and Trevor Davis have nailed down the last two spots at wideout. Yancey is a prime candidate to land on the Packers' practice squad, assuming he passes through waivers unclaimed.

Packers' DeAngelo Yancey: Gets serious run in opener
Yancey led all Green Bay skill-position players with 31 offensive snaps in Thursday's preseason opener against the Eagles, Rob Demovsky of ESPN.com reports.
The wealth of playing time seemingly confirms that the fifth-round rookie is on the roster bubble, potentially competing with Trevor Davis, Max McCaffrey and fellow rookie Malachi Dupre (undisclosed) for one roster spot. Yancey certainly made his case in Thursday's game, hauling in three of four targets for a team-high 67 yards. McCaffrey had three catches for 60 yards on seven targets, while Davis went without a catch on two targets and Dupre left early with a potentially serious injury. Yancey is one step closer to a roster spot.

Packers' DeAngelo Yancey: Headed to Green Bay
The Packers selected Yancey in the fifth round of the 2017 NFL Draft, 175th overall.
A surprising Combine snub, Yancey is a player with the size (6-foot-2, 220 pounds), athleticism (4.5 40, 121-inch broad jump) and production to project as a potential fantasy factor in the NFL. Yancey is awkward after the catch and might not be able to play much over the middle, but he showed a unique ability to make plays downfield on the sidelines. Despite playing in a Purdue offense that was profoundly unable to throw downfield, Yancey turned 49 receptions into 951 yards and 10 touchdowns last year on 101 targets. Yancey will likely be a trendy dynasty dart pick as a Packer, and for good reason. If he makes this team, real opportunity should be there within a couple years, and the idea of teaming Yancey's deep game with Aaron Rodgers' arm is promising.
