  • Martavis Bryant: Let go by Dallas

The Cowboys informed Bryant on Wednesday that he will be released, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Bryant, who last suited up for an NFL game in 2018 with the Raiders, signed a reserve/future contract with Dallas earlier this offseason but will now have to search for an opportunity to reignite his career elsewhere. His release won't result in any dead money against the salary cap for the Cowboys, per Gehlken.

Bryant spent roughly two months on the Cowboys' practice squad to close out the 2023 season. He hasn't played in an NFL game since 2018 with the Raiders, but the 32-year-old has been playing spring football the last couple years in an attempt to make a comeback. He'll try to impress in spring workouts with Dallas.

  • Martavis Bryant: Gets let go

Bryant was cut from the Cowboys' practice squad Thursday, Todd Archer of ESPN.com reports.

Bryant joined the Dallas organization days after his indefinite suspension was lifted by the NFL on Nov. 7, but he never made it to the 53-man roster. His departure comes as the team added La'el Collins and Damien Wilson to the practice squad. Those moves put the team over the six-veteran limit on the unit, rendering Bryant the odd man out.

  • Martavis Bryant: Joins Cowboys' practice squad

Dallas signed Bryant to its practice squad Tuesday, Michael Gehlken of The Dallas Morning News reports.

Just three days after being reinstated from his indefinite suspension, Bryant has already found an opportunity with a new team. The Cowboys' receivers behind CeeDee Lamb have proven mostly unreliable so far this season, so it wouldn't be too surprising to see Bryant called up sooner rather than later.

  • Martavis Bryant: Indefinite suspension over

The NFL reinstated Bryant from his indefinite suspension Saturday, Tom Pelissero of NFL Network reports.

Bryant has been suspended multiple times since entering the league as a fourth-round pick of the Steelers in 2014. The current ban was implemented in December 2018, meaning almost five years have passed since his last NFL action on Nov. 11, 2018. In the meantime, Bryant had stints with Toronto and Edmonton in the CFL but never suited up. He also played for Vegas in the XFL earlier this year, hauling in 14 passes for 154 yards and no touchdowns in eight contests. Pelissero noted that the 31-year-old Bryant has been training for a return and has also drawn interest from some teams.
