Dzanan Musa: Retreats to Europe
Musa signed a three-year contract Wednesday with Turkish club Anadolu Efes, EuroLeague.net reports.
A first-round pick by the Nets in 2018, Musa appeared in 49 games, averaging 4.3 points and 1.9 rebounds in 10.7 minutes per contest between his two seasons in Brooklyn before he was dealt to Detroit during the offseason. Though the Pistons are seemingly in rebuilding mode, the 21-year-old evidently wasn't viewed as part of the organization's long-term plans, as he was waived at the conclusion of the preseason. With none of the league's other 29 teams opting to scoop up Musa, he'll return to the other side of the Atlantic and attempt to establish himself in the EuroLeague.

Dzanan Musa: Let go by Detroit
Musa was waived by the Pistons on Saturday, James L. Edwards III of The Athletic reports.
The 21-year-old was acquired from the Nets -- along with a second-round pick -- in November for Bruce Brown, but he didn't stay with the Pistons for long. Musa appeared in 40 games for Brooklyn during the 2019-20 season and averaged 4.8 points, 2.2 rebounds and 1.1 assists in 12.2 minutes while shooting 37.2 percent from the floor.

Pistons' Dzanan Musa: Moved to Detroit
The Nets traded Musa and a 2021 second-round pick to the Pistons on Monday in exchange for guard Bruce Brown, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.
After being selected with the 29th overall pick in the 2018 NBA Draft, Musa struggled to find playing time during his two seasons in Brooklyn, averaging just 10.7 minutes per game across 49 career appearances. As a 6-foot-9 forward with some ability to shoot from the perimeter, Musa still makes for an intriguing prospect, and he should at least have a better opportunity to see steadier run in Detroit in 2020-21 than would have been possible in Brooklyn. If the Pistons aren't able to retain Christian Wood this offseason, Musa could have a path to being the team's first big man off the bench.

Nets' Dzanan Musa: Scores 17 off bench
Musa went for a season-high 17 points (5-15 FG, 2-7 3PT, 5-8 FT), six rebounds and six assists in Tuesday's win over Orlando.
Musa played a team-high 35 minutes and had perhaps his best all-around game of the season. His scoring and assists totals set new season-bests, while his six rebounds fell just one short of his season high.

Musa led the Nets in scoring while logging the joint-most minutes in this scrimmage, which could lead to a significant role off the bench once the regular season resumes. He was averaging 4.2 points in 11.5 minutes per game when play got suspended earlier this year.

Musa had combined for four points across his last five appearances, and he hasn't been a regular rotation player over the last couple months. Musa has played double-digit minutes in the Nets' last two games, but he's struggled to maintain a consistent spot in the rotation.
Brooklyn has dealt with a number of injuries over the first half of the season, but it was the suspension of Wilson Chandler that appears to have most helped Musa. He appeared in every game between Nov. 8 and Dec. 15, but since then, Musa has racked up seven DNP-CDs. Musa was never much of a fantasy consideration, but he's firmly in afterthought territory for the time being.

With his minutes falling into the single digits in both of the past two games, Musa's spot in coach Kenny Atkinson's rotation looks to be hanging on by a thread. The blowout win allowed Atkinson to empty his bench, but Musa may have failed to see the court had the contest been more competitive. Wilson Chandler returned from a 25-game suspension Sunday to play 19 minutes in his season debut and looks poised to usurp Musa as the top backup to starting power forward Taurean Prince.

Musa managed eight points (3-9 FG, 1-4 3Pt, 1-2 FT), three rebounds and one assist in 23 minutes during Monday's 108-106 win over the Cavaliers.
Musa earned the most minutes among the four Nets reserves who saw the court in this one. While his struggles from the field continued and he totaled more turnovers (two) than dimes as per usual, Musa has played at least 20 minutes in four straight tilts. Moreover, he could continue to hold down a decent role while Caris LeVert (thumb) is sidelined for the next few weeks.

Musa produced 18 points (7-15 FG, 1-5 3Pt, 5-6 FT), seven rebounds, three assists, and one steal in 25 minutes during Friday's 137-89 preseason victory over Franca.
Musa came off the bench Friday but led the team in playing time with 25 minutes. He did not miss out either, scoring 18 points to go with seven rebounds. The sophomore played in nine regular-season games for the Nets last season and will be looking to build on that number moving forward. He will be battling with a number of other players for a regular spot in the rotation and is really only worth keeping an eye on in deeper formats.

Musa managed 15 points (3-10 FG, 2-7 3Pt, 7-7 FT), two assists, and one steal in 20 minutes during Sunday's 74-58 win over Croatia.
Musa matched Rodions Kurucs for the game high in scoring. However, Musa also totaled twice as many turnovers as assists while failing to record a single rebound. He'll look to continue building his case to crack the rotation this season after a strong showing and solid development in the G League as a rookie.
