  • Lucas Nogueira: Playing days over

Nogueira announced Wednesday via his personal Instagram account that he has decided to retire from professional basketball.

After being selected by the Celtics with the No. 16 overall pick in the 2013 NBA Draft, Nogueira had his rights traded to the Hawks. He remained overseas for another year before making the move to North America ahead of the 2014-15 following his trade to the Raptors. The 28-year-old center ended up spending four seasons with the Raptors, appearing in 141 games (10 starts) and averaging 3.2 points and 2.8 rebounds in 12.4 minutes per contest. Since becoming a free agent and leaving the NBA following the 2017-18 season, Nogueira has played with three foreign clubs, with his most recent action coming in his home country of Brazil.

  • Lucas Nogueira: Will sign with Spanish club

Nogueira is set to sign with Fuenlabrada of the Spanish Liga ACB, Emiliano Carchia of Sportando reports.

Since being selected in the first round of the 2013 NBA Draft, Nogueira has struggled to find much of a role in Toronto. He averaged a career-high 19.1 minutes during the 2016-17 campaign, but the big man once again fell well out of the rotation last year, posting averages of just 2.5 points, 1.8 rebounds and 0.9 blocks across 8.5 minutes. That prompted the Raptors to avoid giving Nogueira a qualifying offer this summer, which made him an unrestricted free agent. With training camps opening up later this month and Nogueira still without a deal in the NBA, he's opted to head overseas to Spain. Word on any sort of opt-out clause for the NBA is unclear at this point in time, but Nogueira will now look to rebuild his value overseas.

  • Raptors' Lucas Nogueira: Deemed available Wednesday

Raptors head coach Dwane Casey said that no players would be rested for the team's regular-season finale Wednesday against the Heat, meaning Nogueira (hamstring) should be available off the bench, Tom D'Angelo of The Palm Beach Post reports.

Since Toronto is locked in as the top seed in the Eastern Conference, it's not expected that Casey will overexert the team's key rotation members against Miami, especially since the Heat could match up with the Raptors based on how the results of Wednesday's games shake out. With that in mind, Nogueira, who has averaged just 8.2 minutes per game in his last five appearances, could be in store for more playing time than usual, despite sitting out the Raptors' past contest Monday against the Pistons with a sore left hamstring.

  • Raptors' Lucas Nogueira: Out Monday vs. Pistons

Nogueira (hamstring) has been ruled out for Monday's matchup with the Pistons, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet reports.

Nogueira was forced to leave Sunday's game early with a tight left hamstring, so it's not overly surprising he's sitting out the second night of a back-to-back set. The Raptors are also holding out Serge Ibaka for rest, which should allow both Pascal Siakam and Jakob Poeltl to see some added run in the frontcourt Monday.

  • Raptors' Lucas Nogueira: Will not return with hamstring injury

Nogueira left Sunday's game against the Magic with left hamstring tightness and will not return.

Nogueira got the spot start Sunday with Jonas Valanciunas being rested against the Magic, but his night was cut short after just six minutes of playing time. With Toronto now down two centers, Jakob Poeltl will likely be leaned upon to play heavy frontcourt minutes for the rest of Sunday's contest.

  • Raptors' Lucas Nogueira: Set for spot start Sunday

Nogueira will start at center for Sunday's game against the Magic.

The Raptors are resting usual starting center Jonas Valaciunas, which allows Nogueira to get the promotion to the top unit. Look for Nogueira to see a significant uptick in playing time and production, which gives him some utility in DFS contests as a cheap value play Sunday. That said, Jakob Poeltl is also a candidate to see added run at the position and Serge Ibaka may get some more time at center as well, so it could be somewhat of a timeshare between the three.

  • Raptors' Lucas Nogueira: Fails to score in eight minutes

Nogueira did not attempt a field goal and added one block during the Raptors' 92-73 win over the Pacers on Friday.

Nogueira saw eight minutes of action Friday as the Raptors were able to pull out a big lead because the Pacers were restricting the minutes of many of their star players. The Brazil native is averaging 2.5 points and 1.8 rebounds across 48 games played this season.

  • Raptors' Lucas Nogueira: Will play Tuesday vs. Mavericks

Nogueira (calf) has been cleared to play in Tuesday's matchup with the Mavericks, Raptors radio play-by-play announcer Eric Smith reports.

Nogueira has missed 11 consecutive games with a right calf strain, but was upgraded to questionable Tuesday and has now been cleared to play after going through his pregame routine. That said, the seven-foot big man had played single-digit minutes in six of the previous eight games prior to the calf injury, so he wasn't seeing a significant role. Nogueira can likely be avoided in the majority of fantasy leagues for that reason.

  • Raptors' Lucas Nogueira: Questionable for Tuesday vs. Mavericks

Nogueira (calf) is listed as questionable for Tuesday's game against the Mavericks.

The reserve center has been sidelined for the Raptors' past 11 games with the right calf strain, but Nogueira's questionable designation likely implies that the team is viewing him as day-to-day. It's unclear at this point, however, if Nogueira has progressed to on-court activity in his recovery, making it more likely than not he'll be sidelined again Tuesday. His continued absence will leave Jakob Poeltl and Serge Ibaka in line to pick up all the minutes at center behind starter Jonas Valanciunas.

  • Raptors' Lucas Nogueira: Questionable Saturday vs. Philly

Nogueria (calf), despite previous reports that he would be sidelined, is questionable for Saturday's contest against the 76ers.

Nogueira has missed 10 straight tilts while nursing a strained right calf. In his stead, Jakob Poeltl has been seeing extended run. If Nogueira returns Saturday, it could cut into Poeltl's workload.

Nogueira (calf) is listed as questionable for Saturday's game against the 76ers.

Nogueira has been sidelined for the past 10 games while recovering from a right calf strain. • Raptors' Lucas Nogueira: Continues to progress in recovery

Nogueira got some shots up prior to Sunday's game against the Kings, but is still a ways away from a return, Ryan Wolstat of the Toronto Sun reports.

Nogueira has been sidelined for three consecutive games with a muscle tear in his calf and while he appears to be progressing well, he's still likely going to need a few more weeks to make a full recovery. Until Nogueira is able to partake in practice, a return shouldn't be considered forthcoming, so consider him out for the foreseeable future until another update is provided.

  • Raptors' Lucas Nogueira: Out again Tuesday vs. Suns

Nogueira (calf) has been ruled out for Tuesday's game against the Suns.

Nogueira will be missing a second consecutive game after an MRI revealed that he's dealing with a muscle tear in his right calf. The Raptors haven't provided any sort of timetable, so look for Nogueira to continue to be evaluated on a game-to-game basis for the time being. Without Nogueira, look for Jakob Poeltl to pick up more playing time once again after logging 18 points and six rebounds across 25 minutes Friday. It wouldn't be surprising if Nogueira remained out for at least a few more games due to the nature of the injury.
