Cole Aldrich: Waived by Hawks
Aldrich was waived by the Hawks on Tuesday, Chris Vivlamore of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
Aldrich was merely a camp body for the Hawks and wasn't expected to make much of an impact if he did surprisingly make it through the final roster cuts. Instead, Aldrich is now expected to head overseas and is finalizing a deal to play in China, according to freelance reporter Jeff Goodman. If he plays well with his Chinese club team, there's certainly a chance he's able to land a spot in the NBA next season.

Hawks' Cole Aldrich: Joining Atlanta for camp
Aldrich will sign a training camp deal with the Hawks, Jace Frederick of St. Paul Pioneer Press reports.
Aldrich, who is entering his age 29 season, appeared in just 21 games for the Timberwolves last season as a depth option at center. If he ends up making the Hawks roster, it seems unlikely his role would be much bigger this season. He's never cracked 1,000 minutes in a single season.

Timberwolves' Cole Aldrich: Waived by Timberwolves

Aldrich had seen spot minutes in garbage time in three of the Timberwolves' last six games, so it's somewhat surprising he didn't see any run in a contest Minnesota led by as many as 41 points. At any rate, it will take an injury to two of the Timberwolves' four key rotation members in the frontcourt (Karl-Anthony Towns, Taj Gibson, Gorgui Dieng and Nemanja Bjelica) before Aldrich sees even consistent run off the bench.
