  • Bucks' Spencer Hawes: Will be waived by Bucks

Hawes will be waived by the Bucks, Adrian Wojnarowski of ESPN reports.

  • Bucks' Spencer Hawes: Expected to be stretched

The Bucks are expected to use the stretch provision on Hawes' contract, David Aldridge of NBA.com reports.

Hawes opted into the final year of his contract at just over $6 million this summer, but the Bucks have little use for the 29-year-old and are apparently interested in opening up a roster spot. By using the stretch provision, Milwaukee could waive Hawes and spread his remaining salary over a set number of years, rather than having the entire $6 million count against the team's 2017-18 cap figure. Hawes appeared sparingly in only 19 games for Milwaukee last season after coming over from Charlotte via trade.

  • Bucks' Spencer Hawes: Picks up player option

Hawes will pick up the player-option for his 2017-18 contract, Adrian Wojnarowski of The Vertical reports.

Hawes will make $6 million in the final year of his deal. The veteran averaged 4.4 points, 2.4 rebounds, 1.0 assists, and 0.5 triples across 9.0 minutes per game as a fringe-rotational player after being traded to Milwaukee in February. The Bucks drafted stretch-four D.J. Wilson out of Michigan with their first pick in the 2017 NBA Draft, and he projects to play a similar role with the club as Hawes. Thus, he will presumably have a hard time getting much regular rotation run in the upcoming season.

  • Bucks' Spencer Hawes: Scores 15 in return to Bucks lineup

Hawes recorded 15 points (5-7 FG, 2-3 3Pt, 3-3 FT), five rebounds and two assists across 17 minutes in Wednesday's 112-94 loss to the Celtics.

After being inactive for Monday's game against Charlotte to make room for John Henson returning from a thumb injury, Hawes returned to the Bucks lineup with several of the Bucks' normal rotation players resting before the playoffs against the Celtics. The well-traveled big man was lethal from the field in limited minutes, and finished with his highest scoring game in over a month.

  • Bucks' Spencer Hawes: Ruled out Monday vs. Hornets

Hawes won't play in Monday's game against the Hornets, C.F. Gardner of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.

John Henson (thumb) will be making his return to the lineup after missing the last 10 games, so the Bucks want to get him plenty of minutes to get back in game shape before the playoffs. That leaves Hawes on the outside looking in to the regular rotation, so he'll essentially be held out for rest Monday. It wouldn't be surprising if Hawes didn't see the floor in Wednesday's regular season finale against the Celtics either.
