Brewers' Joey Wiemer: Facing 2-to-3-week absence
Brewers manager Pat Murphy said Sunday that Wiemer (knee) is expected to be sidelined for 2-to-3 weeks, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Milwaukee placed Wiemer on the 10-day injured list Saturday with a strained popliteus muscle in his left knee, an injury he suffered in Friday's win over the Cubs. While Wiemer will be sidelined for beyond the minimum 10 days, he won't require surgery and will be able to treat the injury with rest and rehab. Once he completes his rehab assignment and is activated from the IL, Wiemer could be optioned to Triple-A Nashville, depending on the overall health of the Milwaukee outfield.

Brewers' Joey Wiemer: No structural damage in knee

Wiemer added that the results of his MRI revealed no ligament damage. The 25-year-old outfielder fell awkwardly during Friday's win over the Cubs and landed on the 10-day injured list Saturday, though it doesn't seem like he will be in line for a long-term IL stint.

The Brewers placed Wiemer (knee) on the 10-day injured list Saturday.
Wiemer left Friday's game against the Cubs after his left knee buckled while fielding a ball in the bottom of the eighth inning, and he will undergo an MRI on Saturday, per Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. With Wiemer moved to the IL, Milwaukee called up Andruw Monasterio from Triple-A Nashville in a corresponding move.

Wiemer's knee buckled on him as he was retrieving Nico Hoerner's single down the left field line in the bottom of the eighth inning. After a brief conversation with the trainer, Wiemer walked off the field gingerly. Until the Brewers clarify his status, he should be considered day-to-day.

Wiemer was shaken up a bit on a play near the outfield wall in the third inning and walked into the Brewers' clubhouse with a trainer after striking out in the top of the fourth, but his removal doesn't appear to have been injury-related. Wiemer was scheduled to make an early exit from the game anyway in order to travel to Las Vegas for Milwaukee's upcoming exhibition game against the Athletics. The 25-year-old outfielder has struggled to get going at the plate this spring, managing just four hits in 23 at-bats while striking out nine times.

Wiemer is part of the Brewers' roster for their NL Wild Card Series matchup against the Diamondbacks.
Wiemer finished out the regular season with Triple-A Nashville, but the Brewers have opted to carry seven different outfielders into this best-of-three series versus Arizona.
