Brewers' Corey Ray: Outrighted to Triple-A
Ray was outrighted to Triple-A Nashville on Friday.
Ray began the 2022 season in Nashville and slashed .146/.172/.271 with two homers, 15 RBI, eight runs and seven stolen bases over 27 minor-league games to begin the year. He'll remain with the Triple-A club after losing his spot on the 40-man roster.

Brewers' Corey Ray: Sent to minor-league camp
Ray was optioned to Triple-A Nashville on Wednesday.
Ray opened spring training with the big-league club, but his early demotion to the minor-league side indicates he wasn't all that close to making the Opening Day roster. The 27-year-old was formerly one of Milwaukee's top prospects and made his MLB debut with a one-game appearance last season. Ray hit .274/.325/.500 in 39 games at Triple-A in 2021, and he has a tough path to the majors given the Brewers' outfield depth.

Brewers' Corey Ray: Returns from injury
Ray (quadriceps) has gone 4-for-12 with three doubles and four RBI in three games since Triple-A Nashville reinstated him from the 7-day injured list June 25.
Ray was sidelined for about three and a half weeks with the quad injury. The No. 5 overall pick in the 2016 first-year player draft is slashing .263/.300/.474 with three home runs and two stolen bases across 100 plate appearances for Nashville this season.

Ray was placed on the 7-day minor-league injured list with a quadriceps injury Friday, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports.
Ray had recorded hits in each of his last five games with Triple-A Nashville, but he'll now be sidelined due to his quad issue. It's not yet clear when the 26-year-old will be able to return to action.

Ray was optioned to the Brewers' alternate training site Wednesday.
Ray has been shuffled between the major-league roster and the alternate training site several times in the last few days, and he'll return to alternate camp as part of a transaction in which right-hander Zack Godley's contract was selected by Milwaukee. Ray has appeared in just one game during his time in the majors and went 0-for-2 with a walk, one run and a strikeout.

It's been a busy few days for Ray. He was called up Saturday and made his major-league debut, only to get sent back to the alternate site Monday. Ray spent just one day off the roster and is needed again as a bench option with Daniel Robertson landing on the seven-day concussion injured list in a corresponding move.

Brewers' Corey Ray: Earns first career call-up
Ray was called up for the first time by the Brewers on Saturday.
The Brewers liked Ray enough to select him fifth overall in the 2016 draft, but he hasn't had the smoothest journey through the minors. He flashed potential with 27 homers and 37 steals at the Double-A level back in 2018 but hit just .239 that season. In 53 games at the Triple-A level the next year, he hit a miserable .188/.261/.329 while striking out 38.7 percent of the time. The poor hit tool holds back what might otherwise be an exciting profile here, but Ray could earn opportunities despite his imperfections with Christian Yelich (back) and Lorenzo Cain (quadriceps) both on the injured list and Avisail Garcia day-to-day with a back issue.

Brewers' Corey Ray: Joins 60-man player pool
Ray was added to Milwaukee's summer camp player pool Thursday, Will Sammon of The Athletic reports.
Ray is looking to regain his footing after struggling in his first taste of Triple-A in 2019 (.188/.261/.329 in 230 plate appearances). Given the Brewers' outfield depth and Ray's struggles last season, he's unlikely to play any significant role for the big-league squad during the abbreviated 2020 campaign.

Ray was optioned to minor league camp Monday.
Ray appeared in 11 games with the big club this spring, but he was always on the outside looking in at a spot on the Opening Day roster, so it comes as no surprise that his season will begin in the minors. Ray was once a top prospect, but that is no longer really the case, and he is now simply trying to regain some sort of value after hitting a woeful .188/.261/.329 in his first stint with the Brewers' Triple-A affiliate last season.

Ray hit a solo home run in Sunday's spring game against the Reds.
Ray went hitless over 10 plate appearances in February, but he picked up both his first base knock and long ball on the same swing Sunday. The former top prospect is getting a chance to show what he can do this spring, but given the Brewers' outfield depth and the fact Ray hit just .188 at the Triple-A last season, it's likely he will open in the minors.

Ray was added to the Brewers' 40-man roster Wednesday, Tom Haudricourt of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports.
Ray missed time last season with a finger injury. He was quite poor when available in 53 games for Triple-A San Antonio, hitting .188/.261/.329 while striking out 38.7 percent of the time. He clearly has some work to do at the Triple-A level before he's deemed worthy of a big-league look.

Brewers' Corey Ray: Rehab complete, heads to Double-A
Ray (finger) was activated from his rehab assignment and was assigned to Double-A Biloxi.
The demotion to Double-A appears to be be geared toward getting Ray's confidence back following a poor season to date at Triple-A (.178/.259/.287 slash with 49 strikeouts in 25 games), in what has been both a disappointing and injury-marred campaign.
