Josh Ravin: Heading overseas
Ravin announced Friday via his personal Twitter account that he has signed with the Chiba Lotte Marines of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball league for the 2019 season.
The 30-year-old heads overseas after making 35 appearances at the big-league level with the Dodgers and Braves over parts of the last four seasons, logging a 5.12 ERA and 10.4 K/9 in 38.2 innings in those outings. Ravin's contract is likely a one-year deal that will allow him to return to North America after the season if he draws renewed interest from MLB teams.

Ravin cleared waivers Wednesday and was outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett.
Ravin gave up two runs in his lone appearance after returning from the disabled list and was subsequently designated for assignment. Now that he's through waivers, he'll act as organizational depth for the Braves.

Ravin had only been back on the roster for one day after spending 18 days on the disabled list with a viral infection. If he clears waivers, he'll presumably return to Triple-A Gwinnett and serve as organizational depth for the Braves. Miguel Socolovich was called up from Triple-A to take his place.

Braves' Josh Ravin: Returns from DL
Ravin (illness) was activated from the 10-day disabled list Friday.
The reliever made the Opening Day roster, but he was placed on the disabled list shortly thereafter due to a nasty viral infection. He wound up missing 18 days as a result of the illness. Now that he built his pitch count back up in the minors, Ravin will return to a middle-relief role for Atlanta. Lucas Sims was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding move.

Ravin was placed on the 10-day disabled list Monday with a viral infection.
It's unclear when Ravin picked up the illness, but it's apparently serious enough to warrant a stay on the disabled list, or the Braves needed to find an easy way to get catcher Carlos Perez added to the roster. Ravin pitched a scoreless inning of relief following his promotion over the weekend, and will likely return to a low-leverage relief role once healthy.

Ravin had his contract purchased by the Braves on Saturday.
Ravin will replace Rex Brothers, who was optioned to Triple-A Gwinnett in a corresponding roster move. The 30-year-old appeared in 14 games for the Dodgers in 2017, posting a 6.48 ERA and 19:9 K:BB across 16.2 innings of relief. He'll likely be limited to low-leverage situations.

Braves' Josh Ravin: On travel roster for Sunday's game
Ravin (hip) is listed on the travel roster for the Braves' Grapefruit League game Sunday against the Tigers, David O'Brien of The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports.
It's an indication that Ravin hasn't suffered any setbacks this spring with the hip and groin injuries that resulted him ending the past season on the 60-day disabled list. The health concerns have resulted in the Braves limiting Ravin's workload, however, as he's made just three appearances this spring. After being outrighted to Triple-A Gwinnett earlier this month, Ravin doesn't look like a serious candidate to claim a bullpen gig with the big club once camp ends.

Ravin was acquired from the Dodgers for cash considerations in November. The 30-year-old righty owns a 5.05 ERA in 35.2 career innings, with a solid 26.8 percent strikeout rate, but a high 12.7 percent walk rate.

Ravin (hip) was designated for assignment by the Dodgers on Monday, then later acquired by the Braves in exchange for cash considerations, Eric Stephen of TrueBlueLA.com reports.
Just hours after being designated for assignment, Ravin was headed to the Braves. Most of Ravin's 2017 season was spent at Triple-A Oklahoma City, but he did appear with the big club in a limited capacity. Ravin pitched 16.2 innings over 14 games for the Dodgers. In that time, he allowed 12 runs on 12 hits and nine walks.

Ravin has been placed on the 60-day disabled list with hip and groin issues, Eric Stephen of SBNation.com reports Friday.
With Brandon McCarthy ready to go, the Dodgers will place Ravin on the 60-day disabled list to open up a spot on the 40-man roster. The injury likely isn't that serious, but with just over a week left to go in the season, Ravin's chances of returning to action were slim to none. Expect Ravin back by spring training.

Ravin tossed three hitless innings Tuesday against Minnesota, allowing only a walk while striking out one en route to his first career save.
Just recalled from the minor leagues the day before, Ravin was an unlikely candidate to record a save, but he was able to give most of the rest of the Dodgers' bullpen a rest after starter Kenta Maeda went just five frames. This outing may help the hard-throwing Ravin's case for a steady relief role in Hollywood, but he won't see too many high-leverage innings.

Ravin will likely be sent back to the minors when Logan Forsythe (toe) is activated from the disabled list Tuesday, Bill Plunkett of The Orange County Register reports.
Nothing has been made official yet, but after Forsythe's rehab appearances over the weekend went off without a hitch, Ravin's demotion is inevitable. Once the move is made official, Ravin will dwell in the minors until the Dodgers require more bullpen depth again.

The Dodgers decided to bring Ravin aboard to provide an extra arm out of the bullpen in Sunday's series finale with the Marlins after five relievers were needed to record 20 outs one night earlier.
