  • White Sox's Luis Robert: Nearing game action

Robert (hip) is still awaiting his first action at the team's complex in Glendale, Ariz., Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports. "We anticipate some game action later this week,'' general manager Chris Getz said. "He seems to have turned the corner and is trending well."

There was some hope that Robert would get into games in Arizona last week, but the White Sox decided not to push it. Robert missed more than three months with a similar injury in 2021, so it makes sense that the organization would take a cautious approach. While he remains without a definitive timetable to return to the majors, Robert seems to be progressing well, if at a deliberate pace.

  • White Sox's Luis Robert: Rehab games could come this week

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Monday that Robert (hip) could begin playing in games with the team's rookie-level Arizona Complex League affiliate later this week, James Fegan of SoxMachine.com reports.

The White Sox are aiming for Robert to be able to run at 90 percent effort in the coming days. If that happens, Robert is expected to be cleared for Complex League games. The 26-year-old presumably would eventually move up to a higher-level affiliate to continue his rehab. Robert has been out since early April with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain but should return from the 10-day injured list before the end of the month if all goes well.

  • White Sox's Luis Robert: Ramping up baseball work

White Sox manager Pedro Grifol said Tuesday that Robert (hip) is taking batting practice and running at 80 percent, Daryl Van Schouwen of the Chicago Sun-Times reports.

The 26-year-old is about halfway through the short end of his initial recovery timeline of 6-to-8 weeks, and he appears to be a bit ahead of schedule. Robert could be ready to rejoin the White Sox in mid-May, but the organization is likely to remain cautious as he ramps up his baseball activities over the next couple weeks.

  • White Sox's Luis Robert: Could return in mid-May

White Sox general manager Chris Getz said Friday that Robert (hip) could be back from the 10-day injured list in mid-May, Vinnie Duber of AllCHGO.com reports.

The 26-year-old was given a six-week recovery timeline after he landed on the shelf April 6 with a Grade 2 right hip flexor strain, and it appears he may be slightly ahead of schedule. Veterans Tommy Pham and Rafael Ortega had their contracts selected by Chicago on Friday and should see most of the action in center field until Robert can return from the injured list.
