Frelick isn't in the Brewers' lineup Saturday against the White Sox. With lefty Garrett Crochet set to start on the bump for Chicago, the lefty-hitting Frelick will sit on the bench to begin Saturday's game. Jackson Chourio will fill the opening in right field and bat eighth.... See More ... See Less

Brewers' Sal Frelick: Two hits in win
Frelick went 2-for-4 with a run scored in a 6-4 win against the Cubs on Thursday. Frelick singled and came around to score on a Joey Ortiz double in the second inning and added another base hit in the fourth. Frelick has had a part-time role recently, playing against right-handed pitchers and sitting against most lefties. Since May 20, he has started five of a possible 10 games while hitting seventh in the Brewers lineup.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Homers again Wednesday
Frelick went 3-for-4 with a solo home run, a double and three total runs scored in Wednesday's 10-2 win over the Pirates. After going 39 games without a long ball to start the season, Frelick has now homered in back-to-back games. The 24-year-old outfielder also logged his first multi-hit game since May 4, boosting his slash line to .257/.331/.354with 20 runs scored, 10 RBI and five steals across 160 plate appearances this year.... Brewers' Sal Frelick: Clubs rare homer
Frelick went 1-for-3 with a two-run home run and a stolen base during Tuesday's 4-3 win over Pittsburgh. Felick carried a .051 ISO into Tuesday's contest but, surprisingly, tagged Quinn Priester for a two-run homer in the second frame. The long ball was Frelick's first of the season and the fourth of his career. On the year, Frelick owns a .243/.321/.314 slash line with 17 runs and five stolen bases.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Hitting bench Sunday
Frelick is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Cardinals. Frelick will get his first day off of May after he had started in each of the Brewers' last 10 games while slashing .176/.243/.235. Despite his recent struggles, Frelick still appears to be ahead of Jackson Chourio on the depth chart in the Milwaukee outfield. Chourio will fill in for Frelick in right field Sunday, but Chourio had been on the bench for each of the previous four games.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Not starting versus lefty
Frelick is not in the Brewers' lineup Tuesday against the Rays. Lefty Tyler Anderson will start on the mound for Tampa Bay, so the lefty-hitting Frelick will begin the game on the bench. In his place in left field, Joey Wiemer gets the start and will bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Idle against lefty
Frelick isn't in the Brewers' lineup for Saturday's game against the Yankees. The left-handed bat of Frelick will step out of the lineup Saturday as the Brewers prepare to face lefty Carlos Rodon. Joey Wiemer will fill in as Milwaukee's left fielder and bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Stacking up hits
Frelic went 3-for-4 with an RBI, two runs and a walk in Tuesday's victory over the Reds. Frelick dropped out of the leadoff spot after getting off to a slow start, but the move appears to have worked, as he recorded multiple hits in each of his last three games and reached based a total of 10 times over that span. Frelick has just one extra-base hit thus far, but after nine games his .324 batting average and .410 OBP over 39 PA are more than sufficient.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: On bench vs. lefty in opener
Frelick is out of the lineup for Friday's season opener against the Mets. The 23-year-old will begin the season as Milwaukee's primary center fielder against right-handed pitching, but he's on the bench for Opening Day with southpaw Jose Quintana on the mound for New York. Blake Perkins is starting in center field and batting sixth in Frelick's place.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: In line to start at third base?
The Brewers appear "intent" on Frelick opening the season as the primary third baseman against right-handed pitching, Curt Hogg of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel reports. What began this spring as something of an experiment has evidently evolved into a full-blown plan of installing Frelick as the regular at the hot corner. Frelick hadn't played an inning in the infield in pro ball or college but has proven to be a quick study at third base. He still figures to be used in the outfield a good amount, but sticking Frelick at third against righties thins out the team's crowded outfield situation.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Covering center field in Game 1
Frelick is playing center field and batting fifth Tuesday in Game 1 of the NL Wild Card Series against the Diamondbacks. Tyrone Taylor will cover right field after Garrett Mitchell was left off the roster completely. Frelick got off to a roaring start when the Brewers initially called him up from Triple-A Nashville in late July, but he stumbled to a .238/.304/.293 slash line with zero home runs over his final 161 plate appearances of the regular season.... Brewers' Sal Frelick: Hits bench versus lefty
Frelick isn't starting Saturday against the Cubs. With left-hander Jordan Wicks set to start on the mound for Chicago, the lefty-hitting Frelick will retreat to the dugout. Tyrone Taylor will get the nod in right field and bat sixth.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Not starting Sunday
Frelick is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Nationals. Frelick will often start against left-handed pitchers, but he'll sit Sunday with veteran Patrick Corbin on the mound for Washington. The rookie outfielder is in the midst of a six-game hit streak and has gone 9-for-25 with a double, a stolen base, two RBI and two runs in that stretch. Blake Perkins (oblique) will start in center field in his return from the injured list.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Sitting versus lefty
Frelick is out of the lineup Sunday against the Phillies. Left-hander Ranger Suarez will start on the bump for Philadelphia, meaning the lefty-hitting Frelick will stay put in the Brewers' dugout. Joey Wiemer will start in center field and bat sixth while Frelick sits.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Returns to lineup
Frelick (hamstring) will start in center field and bat cleanup Saturday against the Padres. After missing four games as a result of a sore right hamstring, Frelick will return as Milwaukee's starting center fielder Saturday. The 23-year-old rookie has enjoyed playing in front of his home crowd since debuting in July, posting a 1.208 OPS across 45 plate appearances at American Family Field.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Held out again Wednesday
Frelick (hamstring) remains out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Twins, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Frelick still hasn't played since Saturday due to a right hamstring injury. The Brewers have an off day Thursday, so perhaps they're hoping the rookie outfielder will be ready to go for their weekend series against the Padres. Tyrone Taylor is in center field and Mark Canha is in right field for the Brew Crew on Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Scratched with sore hamstring
Frelick was scratched from the lineup Tuesday versus the Twins due to lingering right hamstring soreness, Adam McCalvy of MLB.com reports. Frelick sat out of Sunday's series finale against the Rangers after tweaking his right hamstring Saturday, and it's still an issue even after Monday's scheduled team off day. Joey Wiemer will now start in center field and bat ninth for the Brewers in Tuesday's series opener against Minnesota.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Managing hamstring issue
Frelick is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Rangers due to a right hamstring injury, Sophia Minnaert of Bally Sports Wisconsin reports. Frelick apparently tweaked something during Saturday's contest and was replaced by a pinch hitter during the sixth inning after going 2-for-3. The Brewers have a team day off Monday, so the 23-year-old will have two full days to rest up ahead of Tuesday's series opener versus the Twins. Christian Yelich, Tyrone Taylor and Mark Canha are starting from left to right in the outfield Sunday for Milwaukee.... See More ... See Less -
Brewers' Sal Frelick: Swipes three bags in loss
Frelick went 1-for-2 with two walks and three stolen bases in a 1-0 loss to the Dodgers on Thursday. Milwaukee struggled to generate offense against Lance Lynn and a pair of Los Angeles relievers, notching just five hits, all of which were singles. Frelick did his best to help get a run across the plate, reaching in three of his four plate appearances and swiping three bags after coming into the contest with just two steals over 23 games. The rookie got into scoring position three times, but he was stranded in each instance, including in the ninth inning when he walked and stole second with two outs as the potential tying run.... Brewers' Sal Frelick: Sitting versus lefty
Frelick isn't in the Brewers' lineup Tuesday against the Rockies. Although Frelick bashed a three-run homer in his only career plate appearance against a lefty, he will take a seat against Kyle Freeland and the Rockies on Tuesday. Tyrone Taylor will start in right field and bat fourth in Frelick's place.... See More ... See Less
