Anderson is absent from the lineup for Wednesday's contest in San Diego. Anderson is just 5-for-24 in seven games since returning from the injured list, dragging his season line down to an unsightly .199/.235/.219. Vidal Brujan is at shortstop Wednesday and it wouldn't be a surprise if he begins to see more action at the position if Anderson's struggles continue.... See More ... See Less

Marlins' Tim Anderson: Officially reinstated
Anderson (back) was reinstated from the 10-day injured list Tuesday. Anderson will be available for Tuesday's game against the Brewers after missing exactly 10 days with back soreness. In two rehab starts, Anderson went 4-for-9 with a two-run home run and four additional runs scored, possibly a sign of encouragement for fantasy managers after Anderson started the MLB season batting .197 with a 29.7 percent strikeout rate.... Marlins' Tim Anderson: Will be activated Tuesday
The Marlins will activate Anderson (back) from the 10-day injured list ahead of Tuesday's contest against the Brewers, Isaac Azout of SBNation.com reports. Anderson will have missed just the minimum 10 days while dealing with lower-back tightness. He played in two rehab games with Triple-A Jacksonville, going 4-for-9 with a home run. Anderson has shown no signs of figuring things out at the plate with the Marlins, however, as he will return to a woeful .197/.234/.221 batting line with a 29.7 percent strikeout rate.... Marlins' Tim Anderson: Cleared for rehab assignment
Anderson (back) will begin a rehab assignment with Triple-A Jacksonville on Saturday, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Anderson will play for Jacksonville on Saturday and Sunday before being reevaluated. He is eligible for activation from the 10-day injured list Tuesday and it would appear he's in line to return at that time. Anderson has been battling lower-back tightness, which could at least partially explain his .197/.234/.221 slash line on the season.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Placed on IL with back injury
The Marlins placed Anderson on the 10-day injured list Monday with lower-back tightness. Anderson had missed the previous two games with the injury and evidently didn't show enough progress to avoid a stint on the IL. Because the move is backdated to Saturday, Anderson will be eligible to return from the IL in just over a week. However, it's unclear whether he'll be ready to rejoin the Miami lineup by then. Vidal Brujan is expected to serve as the Marlins' everyday shortstop while Anderson is on the shelf.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Held out again Monday
Anderson (back) remains out of the lineup for Monday's contest against the Tigers. Anderson is battling lower-back tightness and will miss a third straight start. The Marlins haven't indicated that a stint on the injured list might be required for Anderson, but the odds certainly increase the more time he misses. Vidal Brujan will again handle shortstop in Anderson's place while Otto Lopez covers second base.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Out again Sunday
Anderson (back) is out of the lineup for Sunday's game against the Phillies. He'll be on the bench for a second straight game and remains day-to-day with lower-back tightness. Vidal Brujan will move over from second base to replace Anderson at shortstop.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Scratched with back tightness
Anderson was scratched from Saturday's lineup against the Phillies with lower-back tightness, Kevin Barral of FishonFirst.com reports. Vidal Brujan will shift to shortstop while Otto Lopez enters the lineup at second base.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Sits out Wednesday
Anderson is out of the lineup for Wednesday's game versus the Dodgers, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Anderson appears to be getting a routine day off while he's accumulated just one hit over his last four games. Vidal Brujan will slide over from second base to replace Anderson at shortstop.... Marlins' Tim Anderson: Back in action Thursday
Anderson (thumb) will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Thursday's game versus the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Anderson missed two starts with a mild left thumb sprain, which he suffered during Monday's 7-2 loss to the Nationals. The Marlins were hoping for a bounce-back season from the veteran shortstop following a disastrous 2023 campaign, but Anderson has actually been worse so far in 2024, slashing a mere .221/.267/.253 over 29 games.... Marlins' Tim Anderson: Scratched from lineup
Anderson (thumb) has been scratched from Wednesday's lineup against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Anderson's sprained left thumb is still a little sore, so he will miss a second straight start. The Marlins are calling Anderson's removal from the lineup precautionary, so consider him day-to-day. Vidal Brujan will fill in again at shortstop Wednesday.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Cleared to start Wednesday
Anderson (thumb) will start at shortstop and bat sixth in Wednesday's game against the Rockies, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Anderson was out of the lineup for Tuesday's 7-6 extra-inning win due to a left thumb sprain, but he was able to enter the contest as a pinch runner in the bottom of the 10th and ended up scoring the game-tying run. He's now ready to reclaim his usual spot in the infield, after Vidal Brujan drew the start at shortstop Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Held out of action Tuesday
Anderson (thumb) is not in the lineup for Tuesday's game versus the Rockies. Anderson had to depart Monday's contest due to a mild left thumb sprain. He is considered day-to-day. Vidal Brujan will play shortstop for the Marlins in Anderson's place Tuesday.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Diagnosed with thumb sprain
Anderson suffered a mild left thumb sprain during Monday's game against the Nationals, Christina De Nicola of MLB.com reports. Anderson will be considered day-to-day moving forward. Vidal Brujan would be in line for more playing time at shortstop if Anderson needs a few days off to recover.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Back in action Monday
Anderson (illness) will start at shortstop and bat fourth in Monday's game versus the Giants. Anderson missed the previous two contests with an illness, but he's feeling well enough to give it a go Monday. It's the first time this season that he's been up in the cleanup spot for Miami, as Anderson has mostly hit sixth or seventh.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Out of lineup again Sunday
Anderson (illness) is not in the lineup for Sunday's game against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. It'll be the third straight absence for Anderson due to the illness. Vidal Brujan will receive another start at shortstop in his place for Sunday's series finale versus Atlanta.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Remains out Saturday
Anderson (illness) isn't in the Marlins' lineup for Saturday's game against Atlanta, Jordan McPherson of the Miami Herald reports. Anderson missed Friday's game as a result of an illness, and he is seemingly still under the weather ahead of Saturday's contest. Vidal Brujan will once again start at shortstop and bat ninth while Anderson recovers.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Sitting with illness
Anderson is out of the lineup for Friday's game against Atlanta since he's feeling under the weather, Daniel Alvarez-Montes of ElExtraBase.com reports. Anderson started at shortstop in Miami's first 13 games of the season, but he'll hit the bench for Friday's series opener since he's not feeling well. Vidal Brujan will take over at shortstop and bat ninth.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Nabs second steal
Anderson went 2-for-4 with a stolen base in Tuesday's 3-2 loss to the Yankees. The hits are starting to come for the 30-year-old shortstop. Anderson has four multi-hit performances in the last seven games, and he's batting .346 (9-for-26) over that stretch. It's a very encouraging sign after his numbers cratered in 2023, but as yet, the contact hasn't resulted in much actual production. On the season, only one of Anderson's 13 hits (a double) has gone for extra bases, and he has just one RBI, three runs and two steals in 12 contests.... See More ... See Less -
Marlins' Tim Anderson: Swipes first bag
Anderson went 2-for-4 with a run scored and a stolen base in Thursday's 8-5 loss to St. Louis. Anderson led off the sixth inning with a single before stealing his first bag of the year. He'd advance to third on a groundout before scoring on a Matthew Liberatore wild pitch. Anderson has gotten off to a decent start in Miami, going 8-for-30 with a pair of runs scored and an RBI. The veteran shortstop is looking to bounce back from a rough 2023 campaign with the White Sox in which he slashed .245/.286/.296 with just one home run and 13 steals over 123 games.... See More ...
