Draft Scouting Report

The Saints selected Bub Means in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, and it's possible he's able to work his way into three wide receiver sets as a rookie. The Pitt product has prototypical size at 6-foot-1 and 212 pounds and his value is more likely to come on deep balls, which likely makes him a better fit for the QB that just left New Orleans (Jameis Winston) than current starter Derek Carr. Still, Means has untapped potential as a developmental project behind Chris Olave, and he's worth consideration in Round 5 of rookie-only drafts.

  • Saints' Bub Means: Heads to New Orleans

The Saints selected Means in the fifth round of the 2024 NFL Draft, 170th overall.

Means took awhile to settle into a program during his collegiate career, but things came together in his final two seasons of eligibility with Pitt. He turned in 41 receptions for 721 yards and six touchdowns in his senior season, though that production came when he was 22 years old. Means is a lengthy receiver (86th percentile wingspan) with plenty of size (212 pounds), making him an interesting player in contested catch situations by the goal line. He also lands in a decent situation, as the Saints lack reliable pass catchers behind Chris Olave and Rashid Shaheed.
