Thanks to the effort of Sergei Bobrovsky, the Florida Panthers have a 1-0 lead over the Edmonton Oilers in the Stanley Cup Final. The Panthers shut out one of the most prolific offenses for a 3-0 win in Game 1.

The Oilers came out firing and wound up with 32 shots on goal, but none of them beat Bobrovsky, who recorded his second shutout of the playoffs. Bobrovsky made some eye-popping saves that completely swung the momentum of the game, especially in the second period, when the Edmonton attack reached a fever pitch.

Florida didn't create much in the way of quantity on offense, but what it did create was incredibly dangerous. Carter Verhaghe scored his 10th goal of the playoffs on an odd-man rush in the first period, and Aleksander Barkov picked up a gorgeous assist on the play. Likewise, in the second period, Sam Bennet used strong forechecking and a slick pass to set up an Evan Rodrigues goal.

The Panthers didn't need any more offense, but they got it anyway in the form of an Eetu Luostarinen empty-net goal with just a few seconds remaining.

Game 2 is on Monday night, and Florida will try to take a strong hold on the series with a 2-0 lead, but a frustrated Edmonton team will be looking to break through on offense after being shutout for the first time in these playoffs.
