Jones (shoulder) is ready to get back on the field during OTAs, Danny Jaillet of USA Today reports. Jones suffered a torn labrum in Week 2 last season and then spent the rest of the 2023 campaign on injured reserve. His ability to return to the field, and be ready for the 2024 campaign is great news for New England, who dealt with multiple injuries in their secondary last year.... See More ... See Less

Patriots' Marcus Jones: Shift to IR official
The Patriots officially placed Jones (shoulder) on injured reserve Friday. Jones will miss at least four contests due to a torn labrum sustained Week 2 versus the Dolphins, though the nature of his injury could result in a longer absence. Until the rookie third-round pick is able to return, Shaun Wade and Myles Bryant will stand to handle expanded roles on defense.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Marcus Jones: No injury designation
Jones doesn't have an injury designation for Sunday's matchup against New England, Andrew Callahan of the Boston Herald reports. Jones didn't practice Wednesday due to a concussion that sidelined him for Week 17, but he returned to practice Thursday as a limited participant and logged a full session Friday, clearing him for Week 18. Across 14 appearances, the rookie third-round pick has totaled 33 tackles, seven pass defenses, two interceptions, one fumble recovery and one defensive touchdown.... See More ... See Less -
Patriots' Marcus Jones: Makes three-way impact Week 16
Jones recorded a 15-yard reception, 14 tackles (one for loss) and returned a 69-yard interception for a touchdown in Saturday's 22-18 loss to the Bengals. The third-round rookie also accrued 76 yards as a return man to finish the day with a total of 87 snaps between special teams, offense and defense. He also became a member of an exclusive club with his third-quarter interception, as he joined Hall of Famer Deion Sanders as the only other player in NFL history to record touchdowns of 40-plus yards in all three phases. Despite Jones' penchant for big plays, head coach Bill Belichick said that the Patriots won't look to dramatically expand the 24-year-old's role on offense so that special teams and defense can remain his main areas of focus, according to Mark Daniels of The Springfield Republican.... Patriots' Marcus Jones: Active for Thursday's game
Jones (ankle) is listed as active for Thursday night's game against the Vikings. The 2022 third-rounder was deemed questionable for the contest after being listed as limited on Patriots practice reports Monday through Wednesday, but Jones will be available Thursday to work in depth cornerback role, as well as handle kickoff and punt return duties for the team Week 12.... Patriots' Marcus Jones: Limited Monday
Jones (ankle) was listed as a limited participant on Monday's estimated injury report, Jim McBride of The Boston Globe reports. Jones suffered an ankle injury and briefly left Sunday's win over the Jets, but he returned and took a line-drive punt back 84 yards to score the game-winning touchdown with just five seconds left in regulation. His presence on Monday's estimated report isn't concerning, but if he doesn't return to full participation Tuesday or Wednesday, he'll be in danger of missing New England's Thanksgiving day matchup against the Vikings.... Patriots' Marcus Jones: Onward to New England
The Patriots selected Jones in the third round of the 2022 NFL Draft, 85th overall. New England lost J.C. Jackson this offseason, so Jones fits a need. The Houston product does not project well as a boundary corner, however. He is 5-foot-8 and 174 pounds with 28.88-inch arms, so he will likely be ticketed for the slot. Jones did not test at the combine or at Houston's pro day. The strength of his prospect profile is in his production, as he broke up 18 passes and picked off five more in his senior season....
