Wiles (shoulder) signed a minor-league contract with the Rangers on Thursday. Wiles was unable to pitch for the entire 2023 season following shoulder surgery. There hasn't been an update on his health, though he is seemingly nearing a return to the mound. Wiles made his big-league debut in 2022 prior to the injury, but he'll likely face an uphill battle to see much work in the majors in 2024.... See More ... See Less

Collin Wiles: On mend from shoulder surgery
Wiles announced Feb. 3 via his personal Instagram account that the Brewers released him from his minor-league deal shortly before he underwent right shoulder surgery. After electing free agency following the 2022 season, Wiles joined the Brewers on a minor-league pact in December and was expected to attend big-league camp as a non-roster invitee, but that plan ended up being foiled by the lingering shoulder concern. Wiles, who reached the big leagues with Oakland for the first time last season and struck out nine while giving up five earned runs over 9.2 innings, had been dealing with a strained shoulder at the tail end of the 2022 campaign. The 28-year-old right-hander said he will miss the entire 2023 season while recovering from surgery, but he's hopeful to resume his playing career in 2024.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Collin Wiles: Loses spot on 40-man roster
Wiles (shoulder) was outrighted to Triple-A Las Vegas on Thursday, John Shea of the San Francisco Chronicle reports. Wiles was called up by Oakland in mid-September and appeared in four games before he finished the season on the injured list. The right-hander was a starter at Triple-A Salt Lake for most of the year and had a 5.40 ERA, 1.40 WHIP and 106:27 K:BB in 143.1 innings.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Collin Wiles: Out for season
Wiles (shoulder) was placed on the 15-day injured list Friday, Martin Gallegos of MLB.com reports. The trip to the injured list for Wiles means his season is officially over. The 28-year-old righty made four appearances out of the bullpen for Oakland, recording a 4.66 ERA and 1.34 WHIP over 9.2 innings. Once he recovers from his strained shoulder, he should be in line to make a run at the team's Opening Day roster in 2023.... See More ... See Less -
Athletics' Collin Wiles: Excels in long relief Friday
Wiles allowed one earned run on two hits, a walk and a hit batsman while recording three strikeouts over 4.1 innings in a loss to the Mets on Friday. He did not factor into the decision. Wiles spared the Athletics bullpen after starter Cole Irvin exited with two outs in the fifth. The long-time minor leaguer got the final 17 outs of the game for Oakland on an efficient 63 pitches and turned in what had to be a confidence-building effort, considering he'd given up five runs (four earned) on eight hits over 4.1 frames in his first two outings since receiving his first big-league promotion Sept. 11.... Athletics' Collin Wiles: Called up by Oakland
Wiles was called up from Triple-A Las Vegas on Sunday. Wiles was selected by the Rangers with the 53rd pick in the 2012 draft, and he will join a big-league roster for the first time. It's unclear what role he will work in, but he could get a chance to start if James Kaprielian (finger) is not ready to take the ball next time through the rotation.... See More ... See Less
