Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Power surge continues
McMahon went 1-for-3 with a walk and a two-run home run Sunday against the Phillies. McMahon popped his 10th home run of the season in the first inning, and half of those long balls have come in his last 10 starts. In that span, he's scored 10 runs and driven in 11 while hitting .268. McMahon has also cut his strikeout rate to 24.9 percent across 225 plate appearances, down 3.5 percentage points from his career clip.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Idle against southpaw
McMahon isn't in the lineup for Friday's game against the Phillies. The lefty-hitting McMahon will avoid a matchup with lefty Cristopher Sanchez on Friday. Alan Trejo will start at third base and bat ninth. McMahon has homered in three of his last four games and has scored a run in eight straight outings.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Homers in third straight
McMahon went 2-for-6 with a two-run home run in Wednesday's win over Oakland. McMahon went hitless in his first four at-bats before adding a single in the ninth and a two-run homer in the top of the 12th, which would end up being the game winner. It marked the third baseman's third consecutive game with a home run, and he's now up to five long balls in May to go along with 11 RBI and 12 runs scored. McMahon has also hit safely in 10 straight games.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Homers in Sunday's loss
McMahon went 1-for-4 with a solo home run in Sunday's 4-1 loss to the Giants. McMahon extended his hitting streak to eight games, and he's now gone 13-for-33 (.394) with two homers and five RBI in that span. His first-inning blast off Jordan Hicks was just one of three hits the Rockies mustered in the contest. McMahon is up to seven homers, 25 RBI, 22 runs scored and 10 doubles while slashing .306/.387/.486 through 46 games this season.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Goes yard in Tuesday's win
McMahon went 2-for-3 with a solo home run in Tuesday's 6-3 win over the Padres. McMahon got the scoring going for the Rockies with a solo blast to right center off Dylan Cease in the fourth. It was his second home run this month and his first since May 3. He's now rocking a four-game hit streak with multiple hits in two of those while only striking out once over that span. McMahon has been one of the most consistent hitters in their lineup so far this year, slashing .308/.389/.481 with six homers, 22 RBI, 18 runs and a 22:50 BB:K in 180 plate appearances.... Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Launches fifth homer
McMahon went 2-for-5 with a solo home run in Friday's 3-2 win over the Pirates. The 29-year-old led off the sixth inning by hammering a Martin Perez changeup out of PNC Park completely and into the Allegheny River, becoming only the second Colorado player in history to accomplish the feat after Todd Helton back in 2001. Three of McMahon's five homers this year have come in the last eight games, and the power surge has boosted his slash line on the season to .319/.407/.513 with 13 runs and 19 RBI in 32 contests.... McMahon went 4-for-6 with three doubles, two RBI and two runs scored in Friday's 12-4 win over Toronto. It's already McMahon's sixth multi-hit game this season. The 29-year-old third baseman has gotten off to a red-hot start, batting .415 with a 1.107 OPS, two homers and 11 RBI through in his first 53 at-bats. While he may not have a great supporting cast in Colorado, McMahon's provided consistent production throughout his career, hitting 20-plus homers in four of his prior five seasons.... See More ... McMahon went 1-for-3 with a solo home run and a walk Saturday against the Rays. McMahon homered in his first plate appearance of the game, his second long ball of the season. Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Walks it off Friday
McMahon went 3-for-5 with a double, a grand slam and a second run scored in Friday's 10-7 win over the Rays. The 29-year-old committed an error in a five-run top of the ninth inning that put Tampa Bay ahead 7-6, but McMahon atoned for it with a walkoff slam on a Jason Adam sweeper that caught too much of the plate. It was McMahon's first homer of 2024, but he's off to a blistering start, batting .414 (12-for-29) with three runs and six RBI through eight games -- numbers that are even more impressive considering that Friday was the Rockies' home opener.... McMahon will start at third base and bat third in Wednesday's contest against the Cubs, Luke Zahlmann of The Denver Gazette reports. McMahon has been batting fifth, but he's off to an 8-for-20 start and Nolan Jones (2-for-24) is slumping, so the two are flipping lineup spots. Kris Bryant will hit cleanup in between McMahon and Jones.... See More ... See Less -
Rockies' Ryan McMahon: Will hit fifth in order
McMahon is expected to hit fifth in the Rockies' lineup during the regular season, Thomas Harding of MLB.com reports. The Rockies prefer to alternate left and right-handed hitters in the lineup, with Charlie Blackmon, Kris Bryant, Nolan Jones and Brendan Rodgers set to hit in the top four. McMahon will be pushed down in the order slightly as a result, as he primarily hit third in 2023. He's had consistent production across the last three seasons, recording at least 20 home runs in each with a wOBA of at least .325.... See More ... See Less -
