  • Cubs' Hector Neris: Improves to 6-0

Neris (6-0) worked around a walk to toss a scoreless ninth inning and earn the win in Wednesday's 7-6 victory over the White Sox. He struck out two.

Neris found himself in a similar spot to Tuesday night, when he managed to shut the White Sox down and earn the save. In each game, speedy pinch runner Duke Ellis swiped second base to apply some pressure, but the veteran reliever escaped without allowing any runs both times. Neris isn't missing many bats, as his K/9 is down from 10.1 last season to 7.8 this year, but he's still been effective. Neris should have plenty of fantasy value as long as he remains the closer in Chicago.

  • Cubs' Hector Neris: Notches another save Tuesday

Neris worked around a walk to toss a scoreless ninth inning and record the save in Tuesday's 7-6 win over the White Sox.

Neris ceded a one-out walk, then watched pinch runner Duke Ellis swipe second. However, the veteran reliever picked off Ellis to shut down any chance of a rally by the White Sox. Neris now has eight saves in 10 chances this season to go with a solid 2.86 ERA. He's earned a little job security as the Cubs' closer given his strong play, particularly with Opening Day closer Adbert Alzolay (forearm) on the 60-day IL.

  • Cubs' Hector Neris: Secures seventh save

Neris earned a save against the Reds on Saturday, allowing one hit and striking out two batters over one inning.

Neris gave up a one-out single in the ninth inning but was able to wrap up his seventh save. The right-hander had allowed a run in each of his previous two outings, so this was a promising frame for him. The save was his first since May 4. Only one other Cubs pitcher picked up a save during that time -- and that was in an extra-inning game -- so Neris' role as the team's closer remains solid.

  • Cubs' Hector Neris: Blows save, winds up with win

Neris (5-0) picked up the win after blowing the save Tuesday, allowing one run on one hit and a walk across one inning. He didn't generate a strikeout.

Neris entered the game in the ninth with a 1-0 advantage and got Brice Turang and William Contreras to ground out to start the inning. However, Neris walked Christian Yelich and moved Yelich to second on a balk, setting up a game-tying RBI base hit for Willy Adames. Despite failing to come away with the save, Neris ended up with the victory after Chicago put up five runs in the 10th inning. On the year, Neris owns a 2.84 ERA across 19.0 innings and is 6-for-8 on save chances.
