WWE SmackDown results: Live recap, grades as Cody Rhodes and Gunther meet, plus a special guest referee match
Rhodes and Gunther battle to become the inaugural Crown Jewel champion
Cody Rhodes and Gunther are on a champion vs. champion collision course. Raw and SmackDown's world champions meet on Friday ahead of Nov. 2's Crown Jewel championship match.
WWE chief content officer Paul Levesque previously unveiled a pair of Crown Jewel championships. Two matches -- undisputed WWE champion vs. world heavyweight champion and WWE women's champion vs. women's world champion -- will take place at the Crown Jewel pay-per-view. Rhodes must focus on Gunther but be wary of Kevin Owens lurking in the background.
Two matches are advertised ahead of Friday's show. Andrade and Carmelo Hayes will conclude their unofficial best-of-seven series with a United States title shot at stake. Things might get messy with U.S. champion LA Knight serving as special guest referee. The Motor City Machine Guns make their sophomore appearance against #DIY. The winning team will challenge The Bloodline for the WWE tag team titles.
CBS Sports is with you all night with recaps and highlights of all the action from Barclays Center in Brooklyn, New York beginning at 8 p.m. ET.
