WWE Raw results, recap, grades: Triple threat United States championship match set for Survivor Series

Seth Rollins will defend his title against Bobby Lashley and Austin Theory

For weeks, issues have been escalating between United States champion Seth Rollins and a pair of former champions in Bobby Lashley and Austin Theory. On Monday night's edition of Raw, it was announced that the three would meet in a triple threat bout at Survivor Series.

During Raw, Rollins would only appear in a remote interview, saying the newly announced match was a "two birds, one stone" situation for him. Theory and Lashley were in he building, however, and things got physical between the two men before the night was over.

Rollins to defend U.S. title against Theory and Lashley

It was announced during the show that Seth Rollins would defend his United States championship in a triple threat match against Austin Theory and Bobby Lashley at Survivor Series. Rollins was interviewed and said that the match would be a war between three men who were all on the verge of snapping.

Austin Theory def. Mustafa Ali via pinfall with A-Town Down. Theory again cut a promo before the match saying hitting rock bottom made him a new man and vowing to take out both Lashley and Rollins. After Theory's win, Lashley didn't want to wait for Survivor Series and came to the ring, where he and Theory brawled. Theory eventually ran away after hitting Lashley with a chair to no effect.

Theory "snapping" and becoming a more significant threat rather than just a privileged kid who Vince McMahon handpicked is a good turn for his character. What makes that change more interesting, however, is that for all his violence in recent weeks, and despite every bit of bravado he has displayed in insisting he has changed, when he didn't have the physical advantage in the moment -- as he has during his most impressive moments over the past two weeks -- he was quick to run away in fear. Planting the idea that Theory's talk and attacks on weakened foes is just bluster to cover a shattered ego from a failed Money in the Bank cash-in is interesting character work. Grade: B+

• The Brawling Brutes def. The Judgement Day via pinfall when Sheamus pinned Dominik Mysterio with a Brogue Kick. The match came about when the Brutes, Kevin Owens and Drew McIntyre opened the show to hype up their WarGames match with The Bloodline. The Judgement Day interrupted and a match was thrown together.
• Omos def. Johnny Gargano via pinfall after a chokeslam. Gargano was supposed to wrestle The Miz, but Miz said he injured his hand filming a TikTok and announced Omos as his replacement opponent.
• Matt Riddle & Elias def. Alpha Academy via pinfall after Riddle hit Chad Gable with a Floating Bro.
• Drew McIntyre def. Baron Corbin via pinfall with a Claymore. Akira Tozawa stole JBL's hat at ringside, causing a distraction that led to the finish.
• The Judgement Day and The O.C. brawled backstage and out into the parking lot. After The O.C. had a hand in costing Judgement Day their match earlier in the night, the group interrupted an O.C. backstage interview before a brawl kicked off.
• Rhea Ripley def. Asuka via pinfall with Riptide. The win secured Damage CTRL, Nikki Cross and Ripley the numbers advantage at the Survivor Series WarGames match. Bianca Belair, Alexa Bliss, Asuka and Mia Yim will reveal their fifth member at SmackDown on Friday.
