Real Madrid is looking to rebuild its confidence on Saturday when it hosts bottom-dweller Alaves in a Spanish La Liga matchup at Bernabeu Stadium. Real (16-6-2) sits atop the La Liga table, four points clear of Sevilla, but it has just one victory in its last five games in all competitions. Alaves (2-8-14) sits 18th and is trying to avoid being relegated for the first time since 2015. It is four points from the safety of the 17th spot. Real Madrid drew 0-0 with Villareal last weekend and suffered a brutal 1-0 midweek loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League. It will be desperate to get back in the win column, and it has won both of the past two meetings 4-1.

Kickoff in Madrid, Spain is set for 3 p.m. ET. Real Madrid is the -470 favorite (risk $470 to win $100) on the 90-minute money line in Caesars Sportsbook's latest Real Madrid vs. Alaves odds. Alaves is a +1300 underdog, a draw is priced at +550 and the over-under for total goals is 3.5, with the under juiced to -160. Why you should back Real Madrid

Los Blancos lead the league in goals (48) and have allowed the second-fewest (20). They are also third in La Liga in time of possession (61 percent), while Alaves is 19th (41.8). The question will be if they can score, and Karim Benzema (league-best 17 goals) and Vinicius Junior (12) are certainly capable of that. Real had a 17-9 shot advantage and put six on net but couldn't score against Villareal last Saturday. It didn't have a shot on target against PSG but looked to be playing for the road draw before a 94th-minute goal from Kylian Mbappe squashed that plan.

Alaves has lost eight of its 12 road matches and has yielded the second-most goals in La Liga. It has given up 39 in 24 games, with 24 of those coming away from home. Real Madrid has not lost at home (8-4-0) and has outscored its opponents 24-8 there. The loss to Alaves in Madrid last time was in another stadium during renovations of the Bernabeu, behind closed doors. It should be a different atmosphere altogether this time. El Glorioso has scored just 19 goals, so it will have trouble getting anything past Thibaut Courtois, one of the league's top goalkeepers.

Why you should back Alaves

El Glorioso comes in with a small bit of confidence after getting its fifth victory of the season last Sunday, a 2-1 win against Valencia. It also won the most recent meeting between these teams in Madrid, a 2-1 victory in 2020 at Alfredo di Stefano Stadium. Joselu had the winning goal in both of those games, scoring in the 49th minute of the 2020 matchup and on a penalty Sunday. He leads the league with six goals on penalties and is tied for third with 12 overall. He clearly frustrates opponents with his skills in the box, and he is seventh in La Liga in shots with 51.

Alaves also is strong in the air, winning just shy of 58 percent of its aerial duels to lead the league. The 6-foot-4 Joselu is among the best in La Liga in this area. USMNT player Matt Miazga is fifth with a 77.6 percent win percentage but has started on the bench the past three matches. El Glorioso yields shots, but only 29.3 percent are on target, the third-best mark in La Liga. Defenders Víctor Laguardia, fifth in the league in successful clearances (118), and Ruben Duarte, tied for fifth in interceptions (49), are relentless. Real has scored once over its past four games.
