Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur played out a pulsating 2-2 draw at Old Trafford in the Premier League on Sunday with the Red Devils twice taking the lead before being pegged back by Spurs as the two shared the points. Rasmus Hojlund gave the hosts the lead inside of three minutes when he thumped home after being teed up by Marcus Rashford although that lead only lasted 16 minutes as Richarlison headed home from a Pedro Porro corner.
The England international gave Erik ten Hag's men the lead five minutes before half time when Hojlund returned the favor to re-establish United's advantage but Rodrigo Bentancur scored minutes into the second half from a Timo Werner assist to wipe out that lead. Neither side could find a winning goal but Ange Postecoglou's men will look back on Werner flashing a first half header wide and Cristian Romero heading against the woodwork as moments which could have won them the game.
A draw means that Spurs remain three points behind Aston Villa in third after Unai Emery's men were held to a 0-0 by Everton at Goodison Park while United missed the chance to eat away at the eight-point gap between themselves and the European qualification places. West Ham United, though, can close to within three points of Tottenham if they can win their game in hand when it comes along.
