Barcelona cruised to a 3-0 win over Sevilla on Wednesday in La Liga thanks to three goals in eight first-half minutes

Two goals from Lionel Messi and a bicycle kick from Luis Suarez were more than enough to secure all three points, as Barca entered the day in second place, three points behind Real Madrid. The win puts Barca into first place with Real Madrid playing later on Wednesday.

In this one, things started out a bit rocky for Barca when it looked like Sevilla would take the lead. Steven N’Zonzi missed a chance from close after stealing a ball from Javier Mascherano in the box. And from there, it went all down hill.

First it was Suarez who scored 25 minutes in with this bike off a pass from Messi:

Then it was Messi with his first off a lovely bit of passing from Suarez three minutes later.

Messi then got his second with a rifle in the box to complete the scoreline just 33 minutes in.

It was a dominant performance from Barca that saw Sevilla create little as it was frustrated by the home defense. Messi’s two goals saw him reach 29 goals in 30 matches against Sevilla.

With the result Barca is in good shape and passes a tough test. Messi and company will look to improve its title chances at the weekend when it plays Malaga, with Real Madrid facing a tricky one against Atletico Madrid.
