Barcelona officially has its new coach. On Monday, the club announced the hiring of Ernesto Valverde, formerly of Athletic Bilbao: 

Valverde, 53, coached Bilbao from 2013 to 2017, while also serving as the club's coach from 2003-05. He also managed Valencia, Villarreal, Olympiacos and Espanyol. Valverde also played 22 matches for Barcelona from 1988-90.

A highly-regarded manager, Valverde signed a contract for two seasons with an option for a third.

Valverde's presentation will be on Thursday.
