For most Olympians, making the cover of the Wheaties box is the honor of a lifetime. It means that you were the star among stars when the best competitors in the world came together.

For Michael Phelps, however, it's old news.

This is the third time Phelps has graced the cover of the General Mills cereal, so the brand decided to do something special.

Phelps received a special Lifetime Achievement box -- the first in the company's 94-year history.

"I am honored to receive the first Lifetime Achievement box from Wheaties. For me it's another achievement that I've been able to accomplish that is still so wild to think of," Phelps said. "Every day I kind of pinch myself to see if this is real life. It's been amazing to be able to know that I've put my mind to these goals and been able to achieve them. This all started with a dream, and with hard work and dedication, anything is possible."

Phelps collected six more medals (five gold) at the recent Rio de Janeiro Olympics, bolstering his staggering career total to 28 Olympic medals, including 23 golds. The next highest total by any Olympian is 18 medals, won by gymnast Larisa Latynina of the Soviet Union.

Phelps previously appeared on Wheaties boxes in 2004 and 2012. According to General Mills, the Lifetime Achievement version will be in stores within a few weeks.
