Senators' Dennis Gilbert: Slated to miss several weeks
The Senators announced Thursday that Gilbert (upper body) will miss approximately three weeks, Julian McKenzie of The Athletic reports.
Gilbert suffered an upper-body injury during Saturday's game against Toronto and was expected to miss time. He's officially facing a multi-week return timetable that could force him to miss the remainder of the regular season, but it seems possible that he could be back in action for a potential playoff run.

Senators' Dennis Gilbert: Suffers injury Saturday
Gilbert (upper body) left Saturday's game against Toronto and didn't return, Bruce Garrioch of Postmedia reports.
Gilbert had two blocked shots, two PIM and a plus-1 rating across 11:17 of ice time in Saturday's contest. He has appeared in six NHL outings this season while earning one assist. Gilbert is poised to be out for a while, according to Garrioch, so Lassi Thomson will probably play against the Rangers on Monday.

Senators' Dennis Gilbert: First point of season
Gilbert notched an assist and three blocked shots in Thursday's 3-2 win over the Islanders.
Gilbert has played in four straight games since the Senators are missing Jake Sanderson (upper body) and Nick Jensen (knee). Gilbert isn't getting a lot of work -- he was under 10 minutes of ice time for the second contest in a row Thursday. Through five NHL outings this year, the 29-year-old has two shots on net, five hits and 10 blocked shots, so he'll mostly contribute in the physical categories.

Senators' Dennis Gilbert: Elevated from minors
Gilbert was recalled from AHL Belleville on Monday.
Gilbert's promotion to the NHL roster doesn't bode well for the availability of Jake Sanderson (upper body) for Monday's game versus Vancouver, especially with Nikolas Matinpalo (undisclosed) recovering from an injury of his own. If Gilbert suits up Monday, it would be just his second NHL game of the year -- he logged 13:50 of ice time against the Rangers on Dec. 4.

Gilbert was a healthy scratch in Saturday's 7-5 loss to Toronto. He has six assists in 13 AHL games between Belleville and Lehigh Valley this season.

Senators' Dennis Gilbert: Recalled from AHL
Gilbert was called up from AHL Belleville on Saturday.
The Senators may need an extra defenseman Saturday, depending on Tyler Kleven (lower body), who has missed the last two games and is considered day-to-day. Gilbert has played only one game at the NHL level this season, and he has been a healthy scratch on 11 occasions heading into Saturday's action.

Senators' Dennis Gilbert: Reassigned to AHL
Gilbert was loaned to AHL Belleville on Friday.
Gilbert was recalled Nov. 29 when Thomas Chabot went on injured reserve with an upper-body injury. Chabot is likely to return to action this weekend, making Gilbert redundant at this time. Gilbert played only once during his nine-game recall, going minus-1 with one blocked shot in 13:50 of action.

Senators' Dennis Gilbert: Called up from AHL
Gilbert was recalled from AHL Belleville on Saturday.
The Senators recalled the defenseman 12 days after dealing Maxence Guenette to Philadelphia for Gilbert. The 29-year-old Gilbert played four regular-season games with Ottawa in 2024-25, picking up one assist, and he signed with the Flyers in the offseason as an unrestricted free agent. The Senators placed defenseman Thomas Chabot (upper body) on injured reserve in a corresponding move.

Senators' Dennis Gilbert: Traded to Sens
Gilbert was traded to Ottawa by Philadelphia on Monday in exchange for Maxence Guenette.
Gilbert spent part of the 2024-25 campaign with the Senators, logging four regular-season games in which he notched one assist, 11 hits and four shots after he was dealt from the Sabres at last season's trade deadline. Even with the move to a new organization, the 29-year-old blueliner will likely start in the minors with AHL Belleville.

Flyers' Dennis Gilbert: Loaned to AHL affiliate
Gilbert was assigned to AHL Lehigh Valley on Sunday.
In a corresponding move, the Flyers recalled Emil Andrae from the minors. Gilbert was a healthy scratch for the first two games of the campaign. He had six assists, nine shots on net, 36 blocked shots and 63 hits across 29 regular-season appearances between Buffalo and Ottawa in 2024-25.

Flyers' Dennis Gilbert: Placed on waivers
Gilbert was put on waivers by Philadelphia on Saturday, according to PuckPedia.
Gilbert had six assists, 50 PIM, 63 hits and 36 blocks across 29 regular-season appearances with Buffalo and Ottawa in 2024-25. The 28-year-old could be claimed off waivers by another team. However, even in that scenario, Gilbert is unlikely to serve as more than a third-pairing option while potentially spending some time as a healthy scratch. If Gilbert clears waivers, he'll report to AHL Lehigh Valley.

Flyers' Dennis Gilbert: Pens one-year deal Tuesday
Gilbert signed a one-year, $875,000 contract with the Flyers on Tuesday.
Gilbert accounted for six helpers, 50 PIM, 36 blocked shots, 63 hits and a minus-3 rating over 29 regular-season appearances between the Sabres and Senators in 2024-25. The left-shot defenseman is unlikely to receive anything more than third-pairing minutes with his new team, and he could serve as a periodic healthy scratch in 2025-26.

Senators' Dennis Gilbert: Throws body around Sunday
Gilbert logged three shots on goal, three hits and four blocked shots in Sunday's 4-3 overtime win over the Flyers.
This was just his second game since he was traded to the Senators from the Sabres at the deadline. Gilbert's physicality would appear to be a natural fit on the Senators' third pairing, but they've instead rolled with Tyler Kleven and Nikolas Matinpalo in those spots, leaving Gilbert to keep a seat warm in the press box. Over 27 appearances this season, Gilbert has five assists, 50 PIM, eight shots on net, 58 hits, 33 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating.

Senators' Dennis Gilbert: Heading to Ottawa
Gilbert, Dylan Cozens and a 2026 second-round pick were traded to the Senators from the Sabres on Friday in exchange for Josh Norris and Jacob Bernard-Docker.
Gilbert made 25 appearances for the Sabres this year and logged five assists, 52 hits, 29 blocked shots and 50 PIM while averaging 10:04 of ice time. The 28-year-old has picked up four points over eight appearances since the start of February, and he should have an opportunity to earn time in Buffalo's lineup late in the year.

Sabres' Dennis Gilbert: Maintains momentum after break
Gilbert recorded an assist, three hits, three blocked shots and a plus-2 rating in Saturday's 8-2 win over the Rangers.
Gilbert has three helpers over four games in February. If nothing else, he's helping himself stay in the lineup for his hometown team, leaving Jacob Bryson and Connor Clifton in the press box. Gilbert's recent success might make rostering him more palatable in deep fantasy formats, but his primary source of production will always come from physical play. He has just four assists to go with 50 PIM, 48 hits and 22 blocked shots over 21 appearances.

Sabres' Dennis Gilbert: Assists in consecutive games
Gilbert posted an assist, five PIM and two blocked shots in Tuesday's 3-2 win over the Blue Jackets.
Gilbert has played in both of the Sabres' games to begin February, earning a helper in each. The 28-year-old has featured because the Sabres are deploying seven defensemen, and his playing time has come at the expense of winger Sam Lafferty. Gilbert is now at three assists, 48 PIM, 44 hits, 17 blocked shots and a minus-4 rating over 19 appearances.

Sabres' Dennis Gilbert: Rare helper in win
Gilbert notched an assist, two hits and two blocked shots in Sunday's 4-3 win over the Devils.
Gilbert made the most of his 6:36 of ice time while dressing as a seventh defenseman Sunday. The 28-year-old's playing time has been sparse lately -- this was his sixth appearance in 14 games since the start of January. Gilbert's offense is even less noticeable -- he has two helpers, four shots on net, 43 hits, 15 blocked shots, 43 PIM and a minus-5 rating through 18 appearances. He does not need to be tracked in fantasy.

Sabres' Dennis Gilbert: Plays in seven-defensemen lineup
Gilbert racked up two hits and nine PIM in Thursday's 4-0 win over the Senators.
This was Gilbert's second appearance in three games, though he was scratched for the prior six contests. The Sabres rolled with seven defensemen Thursday, but it's unclear if they'll do that more frequently in the second half. Mattias Samuelsson (illness) was also out, so it's possible Gilbert goes back to the press box once his fellow defenseman is healthy again. Gilbert has one assist, two shots on net, 36 hits, 36 PIM and 11 blocked shots through 14 outings in 2024-25.
