    Ostlund spent the last few weeks of the regular season with the Sabres, and he recorded three blocked shots, two PIM and a hit while averaging 10:33 of ice time. Now that the NHL regular season has concluded, Ostlund will head to the minors to contribute during the Calder Cup Playoffs.

    Ostlund was recalled from AHL Rochester on Friday.

    The Sabres are down to 11 healthy forwards, as Tyson Kozak suffered a lower-body injury Tuesday and Jordan Greenway is still day-to-day after missing the last five games with a lower-body injury. Ostlund, who was selected 16th overall in the 2022 Draft, has 19 goals and 17 assists in 44 AHL games but has been on a tear of late with eight goals and three assists in his last six appearances. Should Ostlund enter the Buffalo lineup Saturday versus Tampa Bay, he likely will be a middle-six forward.

    Ostlund is starting to heat up in his first full professional season in North America after coming over from Sweden at the end of their 2023-24 campaign. He played two regular-season games with Rochester last year, picking up an assist. He started the season with a goal in six games before suffering a hand injury in Cleveland on Oct. 26 that caused him to miss eight weeks. Ostlund, who was selected 16th overall in 2022, has four goals and eight assists in 24 games with the Amerks in 2024-25.

    Ostlund will make the move to North America for the first time having finished his season with Swedish club Vaxjo, for which he generated 12 goals and 11 helpers in 38 contests. Selected by the Sabres with the 16th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft, the 20-year-old center may spend some time marinating in the minors before being in the mix for an NHL roster spot.

    Ostlund -- who was selected by the Sabres with the 16th overall pick in the 2022 NHL Draft -- has been playing for his youth team Djurgardens IF over in Sweden. In 19 contests, the young center has notched two goals, nine assists and four PIM.
