Mihkeyev opened the scoring at 6:50 of the first period in his first game back in Vancouver since the Canucks traded him away in June. He had been a healthy scratch for two previous contests due to ongoing struggles offensively. The winger has just three points, 22 shots on net, eight hits and a plus-5 rating through 16 appearances this season. Given those poor numbers, Mikheyev is unlikely to do enough to warrant fantasy consideration in most formats.

Mikheyev has two points this season, and they've come in the last two games. The 30-year-old winger's tenure in Chicago is off to a slow start, and it doesn't help that he's confined to a middle-six role with no power-play usage. He's added 16 shots on net, four hits, four PIM and a plus-5 rating through 11 appearances. Mikheyev's career high of 32 points from 2021-22 and his limited role give little reason for optimism regarding his production over the remainder of this campaign.

Mikheyev snapped his nine-game scoring drought Monday with an empty-netter in the final seconds of the third period, when the Avalanche were all out on the attack trying to spark a late comeback. As a bottom-six forward with limited chances to produce, don't expect Mikheyev to make much of an impact in most fantasy formats while playing for one of the weakest teams in the Western Conference.

Blackhawks' Ilya Mikheyev: Dealt to Chicago
Mikheyev, along with the negotiating rights to Sam Lafferty and a second-round pick in 2027, were traded from the Canucks to the Blackhawks on Wednesday in exchange for a 2027 fourth-round pick, Mark Lazerus of The Athletic reports.
Mikheyev's a useful player, but his $4.75 million cap hit had become burdensome for the Canucks. This deal gives them cap flexibility heading into the draft and free agency, while the Blackhawks get a middle-six forward with speed and defensive skills to bolster their depth. Mikheyev had 31 points in 78 contests in 2023-24 after being limited to 28 points in 46 games due to a knee injury the year prior.

Mikheyev has bounced back from a five-game slump with a goal and an assist over his last two outings. It's helped that he's moved up to a line with J.T.
