Hedman scored a goal and added an assist in Saturday's 6-2 loss to the Sabres.
Remarkably, it was Hedman's first goal of the season. Granted, it was just his 24th game of the year, but he has reached double-digit goal totals in each of the last two regular seasons. It was also Hedman's first multi-point game since Oct. 25 against Anaheim. His scoring pace could ramp up down the stretch if he has put his injury woes behind him.

Hedman sustained his lower-body injury during warmups of last Wednesday's quarterfinals matchup for Sweden against the United States and did not play as a result. The left-shot blueliner has already missed 34 games for the Lightning this season due to an elbow injury. The 35-year-old should be good for his role in all situations against Toronto, though his ice time might be relatively low in the first half of a back-to-back -- Tampa Bay will also face Carolina on Thursday.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Sustains lower-body injury
Hedman isn't getting ice time for Sweden against Team USA in Wednesday's quarterfinals game because of a lower-body injury, per Pierre LeBrun of TSN.
Hedman sustained the injury during the pregame warmups. He still dressed for the game as the seventh defenseman, but it seems he won't get any shifts. Hedman went into Wednesday's action with a goal and an assist in four appearances with Sweden in the 2026 Olympics. He also has 13 assists across 21 outings with Tampa Bay in 2025-26. If Sweden wins against the United States, then the Swedish team will play Friday in the semifinals.

Hedman recorded an assist, five shots on goal, two PIM and a plus-2 rating in Thursday's 6-1 win over the Panthers.
This was Hedman's third game back from an elbow injury that cost him 22 contests. The 35-year-old has been sheltered on the third pairing since his return. He's now at 13 assists, 33 shots on net, 30 blocked shots, eight PIM and a plus-2 rating through 21 appearances. Following a 22-game absence, Hedman appears ready to return to the lineup against Boston on Sunday. He has compiled 12 assists, 25 shots on net, 29 blocked shots and eight hits across 18 appearances this season. Hedman (elbow) is likely to make his return Sunday versus Boston, per Benjamin Pierce of the Lightning's official site.
Hedman hasn't been in the lineup since Dec. 9, but head coach Jon Cooper told reporters Saturday, "Barring him coming in and saying no, which I think is extremely doubtful, he'll most likely be in tomorrow." Hedman does still need to be activated off injured reserve before he can return to the lineup. Should he play Sunday, it will likely be as a member of the top four and first power-play unit. That might result in Darren Raddysh shifting from the top power-play unit to the second grouping, but the 29-year-old has been productive in his current role, providing eight goals and 17 points with the man advantage in 46 outings this season.

Lightning's Victor Hedman: Needs elbow surgery
Hedman will undergo elbow surgery Monday and is expected to be out of action until the beginning of February, Eduardo A. Encina of the Tampa Bay Times reports Friday.
